All things Arcane and Alchemical

Greetings all, I am Voy'shet Magir, an avid practitioner of the Arcane arts, and a studier of the Alchemical elements. I have created this thread so that fellow Magi and Thaumaturge's may come together, share information and ingredient locations, share arcane discoveries, and pool together ideas. I will regularly be updating this section with worth-while posts, so that the wealth of knowledge may be spread. All locations shall be marked on a map, for your convenience of course.

First subject naturally, has anyone found the best combination for Magicka potions? And what of paralyzation poisons?

If you combine a River Betty with Deathbell you not only get a Damage Health poison, but it also inflicts Slow...and it's still the most potent poison I can find. It's awesome, and neither ingredient is particularly rare.

And hello, I am Enoch, jack of many trades, master of few. Haha.

Hmm, that's an interesting poison, slow and damage health, River Betty and Deathbell you say? Cool.

Hello, I am Liessa Wyrmbane, and I know many secrets of potion making, none of which I am able to share because I wrote them all down in my Manual of Alchemy in a secret code but forgot the code. A word from the wise though... Do NOT, I repeat, do NOT eat yellow snow.

Yup! Give it a try, I love it. The duration of the Slow effect is equivalent to the points of health it also damages. So my latest potion damages 22 points of health and slows the victim by 50% for 22 seconds, and I believe it's a static 50% slower movement speed, great for archers. Perhaps other combinations or a higher skill in Alchemy increases the movement speed % that the poison will slow...I can't be sure yet.

Greetings, I am Vorius, I specialize in conducting impromptu ummm... 'home inspections', yes that's it... very late at night so as to not disturb the homeowner, and I acquire many... 'samples' from the home to appraise and evaluate.

But anyway I also have a fond hobby of alchemy though right now it is mostly exploratory. My quest is to discover all the effects of the regents found across Skyrim.

I believe blending 3 ingredients all the time is the ideal solution, correct? This way you have the best chance of discovering a hidden property on any of the 3 samples, correct?

But it is a very tedious job of recording every combination I have already made. I have to actually write these down on paper to keep track so I dont try experimenting with the same ingredient combinations more than once. It is a pity the alchemist bench does not remember this for you.

Another question I had is, out of the 4 properties on a regent, does the order of them bear any significance? I am suspecting that the first property is its weakest one, and then as you progress to the last property the effect is stronger. So something with restore health as its first property has a weaker effect than another thing with restore health as its 4th property. Is this a correct assumption? If not, how is the strength of the property determined?

Greetings again, I just wanted to bring this useful tool to everyone's attention. Mix and match, and share your discoveries! http://skyrim.iamnoah.com/

And to answer the question above, I do believe the the strength of the property is measured from 1-4, 4 being the strongest. So it is advisable to find a weaker 1st ingredient, and pair it with a great 2nd.
