yugas42 Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 I picked up Fallout 4 in the summer sale two days ago and of course threw in some mods almost immediately. I'm not really new to NMM as I've done some pretty heavy modding of Skyrim in the past. I've enabled modding properly by making the Fallout4Custom.ini file and putting in the text from the wiki. The problem I'm running into though is that any mod I install that uses a plugin doesn't seem to work in game. I've got a few retextures running just fine, but stuff like Armor Keywords and any of the more advanced mods refuse to work at all. I've verified that NMM is able to add them to the right location because they do show up once enabled in the plugins.txt file. I'm at a loss here, as is a friend of mine who has a lot more FO4 modding experience than I do. Anything I should check out to get this stuff working before I reinstall the game?
Rabbit1251 Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 (edited) Fallout 4 works differently. Do this: Open the Fallout4Custom.ini file. (located in /documents/my games/fallout 4)Under [Archive], add/change:bInvalidateOlderFiles=1sResourceDataDirsFinal= To re-enable mods in the 1.5 patch:STEP 1: Activate and sort your mods in NMM or any other mod managerSTEP 2: Go to Users\(your name)\Appdata\local\fallout4\plugins.txtRight click the text file. Go to 'Properties' and disable 'read only'.STEP3: Add a '*' (star) before every unofficial mod plugin file (both .esm and .esp).EXMAPLE:Fallout4.esmDLCRobot.esm*SatelliteWorldMap.esp*companion_DogMetal.esp*Pip-Boy Flashlight.esp*PipBoyShadows.esp*Glowing Animals Emit Light.esp*Fr4nssonsLightTweaks.espSave the text file.STEP4: Go to 'Properties' and enable 'read only' again. At the Start Menu select 'Mods'. Log in to Bethesda.net and again enable all of you mods. Close out of there and you should be alright. Simple, right? Yeah, I know. Good luck!! yugas42 Posted June 25, 2016 Author Posted June 25, 2016 Got everything working now, it seems that the info I was using was definitely outdated. Many thanks!
cfdmedic Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 HHMMMM, I have done all of this - even reloaded the game and all the mods twice, I still only get maybe CBBE to work. Nothing else will work. What I don't have is the "MODS" at the main load menu!?!?!?! Any ideas there
