CiderMuffin
Is the minutemen considered the 'good guy' or 'cannon' ending? I'm currently on the way to do that but after doing a few BOS quests, i'm realising how much I dislike them, IMO the wasteland is better off without them. Very tempted to go Railroad but dislike that they just blow up everything to do with the BOS, they don't even try to evacuate the kids/give the option to surrender to those who want it. If you use the mod which unlocks the cut dialogue for the BOS post minutemen ending, the leader says that destroying the institute was only their first step, they have big plans and a priority is to hunt down and kill all the super mutants, synths and ghouls. It's voiced etc so was original content just cut from release. Therefore, having them all together still means that the brotherhood are actively hunting down synths and some ghouls. Urgh I seriously dislike the story and factions in this game. I loved the Witcher 3 and it's decisions but all of Fallout's seem terrible :/ What is the 'nicest' or 'best' ending in your opinions? Do you have a link for that cut dialogue?

JoeOllie
That said, after watching it again, it does seem as if the brotherhood look to you for guidance and for missions. Therefore in theory the SS could just focus efforts elsewhere and if they kicked off, the minutemen could just shell the s#*! out of them?Makes me feel a bit better :PThoughts?N.BWhy do I get so engrossed in the politics of a damn game......... CiderMuffin
Huh, I was expecting more raised voices and disgruntled from Maxson, I'm surprised only Kells lectures you about it lol. I'm going to have to test that mod out.
Wunderbot
There's actually a lot of cut content for the Brotherhood. Besides this ending that just got posted, there was also an option to spare Danse and confront Maxson and challenge him for his title of Elder. It's voiced as well, but it was cut for some reason. CyrusAmell
I think that content was rightly cut as it was way too uncannon for BOS lore. The ability for any Paladin to challenge the leader for control through combat sounds fittingly medieval for an organization with knights but it makes such a group ungovernable at best and utterly anti-intellectual at worse. If the Litany was really part of the Codex to begin with then why did none of the Outcast challenge Owyn Lyons for control rather than just going AWOL before Fallout 3? Game-wise, it would imbalance faction perceptions as it would steal some of the Institute's thunder if the player could just go and become leader of the Brotherhood. The whole point of the Brotherhood vs. Institute argument usually lies in the fact that in the latter you can enact change from above and in the former you must enact change from below (albeit highly placed). I wish there was a way to indicate how your control of the Minutemen meshed with your position in another faction. Would you remain General even as you were Director of the Institute? Would the Brotherhood accept your control of a local militia as a Sentinel? The Railroad is pretty mellow about it because they try to keep your involvement a secret not matter who you are, General or not. Wunderbot
I agree I found it silly that the Brotherhood would have an archaic rule like a trial of combat for leadership. But challenging him through other means alongside Danse would have been a far more satisfying conclusion to the Brotherhood story, really. At the current end, you still just feel like a soldier blindly followering orders with questionable morality at best.
CyrusAmell
That last part always grates me considering that we are usually the General of the Minutemen by the end. The Brotherhood military might laugh at the idea of such a title being legitamtely respectable, but that will only make destroying them on my Minutemen run that much more satisfying... FriedGeoduck
I went through the tedium of completing every possible ending. I found the Minuteman ending the most morally satisfying. That ending left the fate of the Commonwealth in the hands of the people of the Commonwealth with the Minutemen providing security while leaving governance in the hands of the people. The Institute and the Brotherhood of Steel are both foreigners when it comes to the daily lives of the inhabitants of the Commonwealth. I saw both factions as invading forces which want to impose their will by force of arms and who cared not for the actual people in the Commonwealth. Both groups view themselves as "The Savior of the Commonwealth", but their attitude is "Join, Get Steamrolled or Die". Too authoritarian and dictatorial for my tastes. The Railroad was just too narrow minded in their focus and drive. They want to save the synths and change peoples attitudes, but they are not prepared to deal with the issues of rebuilding and fortifying the Commonwealth. They didn't think that far ahead. They almost pretend that the rest of the Commonwealths problems do not exist unless it directly affects their efforts. Besides, I didn't like Desdemona as she was just as dictatorial as Shaun and Maxson. I kept half expecting her to put her fist on her hips and start stomping her feet. LordKmTube
I would go with railroad as there mission when taking down the brotherhood is very well done + you work a lot with the institute. with the whole questline done you get to keep x6-88 (bug) Deacon and Garvey but paladin will be glitched and will attack you
