My Dream Mod

Here is my dream mod. All of you have created so many beautiful characters, but I can only play one character at a time, so I hardly ever see the others.

I would like a mod to do two things:

1. Allow me to create characters in the character creation and flag them with a tag like "adventurer".

2. Allow these characters to spawn through the land so that they can be encountered on the road, in taverns, and even in ruins. Maybe they even can appear in teams sometimes.

3. A very advanced form of this mod would allow me to send an NPC or team on an errand as my agents. They could get missions such as "patrol the roads" or "attack the dungeon" or "Go to Anvil and wait for me".

It would be such fun to follow a trail of bodies into a ruin and find a beautiful fighter battling evil. Maybe she would join me for a while.

This would really bring the game to life. Thank you.

THis is an awesome idea

the most inteligent companion i have found was ramy's

but the ability to create custom npc's and have them in the game world would be cool

no longer should we be the only mystic elf running around pwning monsters and doing good or evil deeds

this also smells of alot of effort

Your best bet would probably be to make the companion mod with static faces, and include step by step instructions for transferring a face from a newly created savegame to the mod.

As for the missions bit, can combat even take place if the player isn't in the same cell or worldspace?

Something I learned from my Fighters guild mod. The answer is no. If you aren't there to actually see people fighting, nothing will actually happen. Although they're told to go to the bottom of a dungeon filled with hostiles, they will still go down there, but won't actually fight anything along the way, or even near where they're stopped unless you are there to watch it. Unfortunately you can't even replicate them fighting through scripting since none of the scripting will happen if you aren't there to see it. There's a reaso why I never really went back to the mod, I pretty much did as much as you can with background NPCs.

That would be fine. It is the illusion that I am looking for.

I am in the game development industry about 12 years now and one MMO idea I had could be placed into Oblivion.

Go to the tavern and hire a an NPC as your agent to do a mission. He will return to you at some point either in the tavern or in your home/castle. Based on the mission you gave him, he will either ocme back with cash, information, relics, or not at all.

Ok, so he does not come back. Time to hire someone to go find out what happened. Your second guy might tell you where the body is or where he is being held by bandits.

Chances of success are based on skill, class, mission type, and equipment. The game does not actually go through the motions. It just calculates the chance of success and gives the illusion.
