Extremely frustrating experience

***Please read the full posts and even the replies if you can be bothered. I'm frustrated enough as it is without people telling me to edit the .ini files or reinstall the mods

http://oi65.tinypic.com/25pmpdt.jpg

So I'm back to playing fallout, I bought it on PC and decided to do survival mode with the additions of mods. Initially I wanted to get used to the vanilla game, so I downloaded the Nexus Mod Manager with ease, and then promptly added a mod that allowed the consle in survival mode without an issue. It's working fine, and the process was smooth.

I'm using Windows 7.

3 days later I spent a full day off from work 'shopping' for mods, compiling a massive list and fixing an issue I had with Far Harbour which took me about 3 hours. Now that I've tried to start downloading proper mods I've encountered nothing but technical issue behind a technical wall behind a work around and blah blah blah typical computer BS. I'll explain what I've done and keep in mind I've editted my .ini files appropriately and have been able to use the Consle mod without issue:

[Console mod: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/11834/?]

1. Found Body Slider mod, clicked download through NMM (didn't work with google chrome so i used explorer and its fine now)

2. Downloaded in mod manager, and I was able to follow the instructions without an issue and found the .exe with the 'Supported Tools' function, enabled the mod, no plugins

3. Open .exe and tested out new body shapes with chunky arms

4. Opened Fallout game to find no changes what so ever

5. Three hours later, gave up and tried my next mod

- - -

1. Selected Full Dialogue Interface Mod, downloaded through NMM

2. Tried to activate and followed the options with no error

3. After picking an option the window closes and the mod is disabled.

4. Tried to enable mod, won't turn activate

5. 2 hours later give up

[Later I was able to fix this with manual installation because it never interacted with NMM it worked fine]

- - -

These are some short examples but I have also tried Armorsmith and tested it out in game with no mod being present. Somehow I was able to download the consle mod in 3 minutes flat and have it functioning, even still at this very moment, but now absolutely nothing is working. On top of that google chrome won't register me clicking 'download' any more [just bringing it up in case its relevant I seriously don't want to talk about browsers] but it did when I downloaded the consle mod without an issue.

I've unistalled, wiped the mods except the Consle, reeditted the .ini files to make sure and installed them all over each several times in case of corruption and the results are the same. It downloads, I activate it, nothing happens. In the 'Full Dialogue' mods case it simply won't allow me to enable it.

At this point I'm literally offering to pay some one to walk me through this, we can talk about the rate via steam but message me on this forums so its on the record. I would love some genuine advice, and no BS technical jargen I've just spent a full 10 hours trying to iron out these crappy computer issues I don't want to have to get a diploma in IT just to understand you. If you can't put it in simple terms, don't come here to educate, it's not your strong suit.

At this point I don't know what to do, and I'm damn lucky I got the consle working considering Fallout 4 is an absolute bug fest, it's been used to save my file at least 10 times in the last 20 hours of play time. Please help me out here. I'm brand new to modding, I usually go vanilla or do something else, but the mod community in Fallout 4 has been exceptional. I really want to get this working and as simple as it was with the Consle mod which was basically all but 4 clicks.

Unclear?

  1. Are you using data meant fore consoles on a PC ?
  2. Are you using a console ?

the code for PC is not the same for a console, the code is (in laymens terms) transformed by the CK on a PC for upload to Bethesda.net's systems for consumption OF console use.

the link to that mod ALA console mod, is required for better understanding here, we don't support console modding as far as I know..., that is done on Bethesda's site only.

The term for clarity "console" is meant for what ?

you might have issues with .net and Nmm's functions so try this rout (https://github.com/TanninOne/modorganizer/releases/download/v2.0.7b/Mod.Organizer-2.0.7.exe)

it's is a new toy to clean up problems like yours is.

PC

I downloaded the mods for PC

The consle is a commonly used medium to enter admin commands, usually by pressing ~ on all types of games

It is disabled in survival mode and I knew there would be issues and game breaking bugs I could resolve in game with the commands, so I enabled it with the mod. I will edit my original post with the link. The latest info I've been able to rummage up said that mod.organizer is unreliable for Fallout 4 at the moment and hasn't been recently patched.

Also a heads up that the link is a download, as well as what the download is, would be appreciated

mod Organizer updated / patched and is fully operational at the moment, you said " Chrome will not work any more" ? ; So, this is a direct download encase your browser is hosed up, it also use ,net for it's functions and that software might be whats wrong with your having a hard time, be it as it may, I killed two birds with on link.

As far as Unreliable goes, your here asking for help with NMM ? :ermm:

and we have the answer that Might help you.

Understood the meaning now " in game command line AKA Console controls for the game."

I am kitty, HI !

I am here to try and assist you IF I am able, to sort out the issue if at all possible, in my signature here, there are links that provide the users here with valid and very important modding skills out lined along with In depth reviews too. it's a suggestion for later consumption and it's not written by me, I just support it.

Fo4, is nasty how it works with mods, it too will disable mods each session and it is very important we know where the data comes from how it's packed up and how it is installed.

For ingame menus will enable things and the session manager disables things.

I appreciate the attempt but so far all you've really said is that I should switch to a different mod a manager. Chrome is obviously a seperate issue i specifically said I didn't want to be forced into talking about.

So the best I've got is spending another couple of hours learning how to use a MORE dodgy program? And your point about 'unreliability' was just word salad. Yes, NMM isn't working for me. So lets talk about something that can help me out with the Nexus Mod Manager. I always knew I had alternative options, the problem is that NMM is far more user friendly for some one with no experience.

This issue could be a simple as an option in the mod manager, so lets stick to that area instead of moving me on to another manager. I've put an enormous amount of time and effort in trying to get this to work and I don't want to see it all go to waste for another program that might end up doing the same thing.

As for that illusive 'answer that might help' I'll be here for the next 4 hours so feel free to add it at any time.

Offer still stands, if someone is able to help me, perhaps with team viewer/skype I can donate some money to their pay pal.

That last patch of advice didn't help me one bit so this topic is still completely open. I'm desperate, I have one more day off and if I have to spend all of tomorrow trying to figure out what is wrong I'm going to throw my screen out the f**king window.

God I hate computers, nothing is ever simple. You deal with one problem, you encounter 3 others. You keep knocking down BS till there's nothing possibly left that could ruin your day. And somehow I end up with the exact system, card, browser and launcher that ends up stuffing me up on every single effin' game.

S.O.S.

Wait, what are you using?

Nexus Mod Manager (NMM) or Mod Organizer (MO)

In your first post you say NMM,in your latest you say Mod Organizer.

Different animals, NMM works fine at the moment, MO is still in beta and less easy to use for a first time modder.

Now as to your problem, best advice at this point is to start over. Do a clean install of FO 4, fire it up once so the ini's are created and make a backup of the ini files.

Modify the ini files as described adding the neccesary lines.

Download NMM and install it to the letter, making sure it is on the same drive as the game.

Follow the guide and make 3 profiles in NMM one for testing a single mod after download just to see if the game starts with just that one mod active, one profile to test it on top of other mods and one for play only where you activate the mod after you made sure it works on.the other two profiles.

Download the mods you want using explorer if that is what is working for you, (personally i have no problems using chrome) making sure you get the latest version of the mod and thoroughly read the mods frontpage and the readme for the install instructions and if there are any dependent other mods you need to download and install in order for it to work.

Install them and playtest them on the "test" profiles you made earlier. Once you verified it works you can activate it on your "play only" profile this way you always keep your play only clean and working.

I know it sounds like a pia, and it can be, but once you get a feeling for installing mods and get more experienced installing and uninstalling them you can skip the testing most of the time. Though be prepared that at some point your game will break anyway and you have to do a clean install again.

There's lots of people running well over 150 mods so there is no reason, apart from hardware limitations, you can not.

I NEVER said I was using Mod Organizer.................. I feel like this is going absolutely no where.

I did start over, and I said that.

I followed the guides to a T, I got one mod working 3 days pria with no issue. I already said that.

I already said I was using explorer to download the mods and that it's not the issue I want to focus on.

So far my ACTUAL ISSUE is yet to be addressed. Gallibran I suggest you actually read my posts instead of scanning them.
