HAVOK Animation

So, I've been going through and trying to find a way (somehow) that I could source the current gen HAVOK tools for the mod community, when I came upon this nugget of information:

http://wccftech.com/microsoft-acquires-havok-license-tech-competitors/

The gist of it is that Microsoft acquired Havok, and has plans to do a cloud-based system. My question is, what fate does that hold for modding in Fallout 4? In general?

Are we basically fifty shades of screwed as far as animations go?

er- probably. Havok has an unhappy history (as do all the original PAID physics libraries). Intel's purchase was MINDLESS (nothing new there) but thankfully this was a rare example of an external company not killed off by an Intel aquisition. Intel originally was looking for common code libraries that would use the FOURTH core of a 4-core chip- then discovered the competition from AMD was so weak, Intel was better off pushing TWO core solutions like the i3, and mega-weak CPU cores like the Atom. With this shift, Havok became pointless to Intel, but was at least left alone.

No-one makes money from Havok, but the controlling managers are always told to 'monetise' 'professional' use- hence this nonsense over insanely expensive Havok animation tools. This will change when MS bakes Havok into DirectX, if MS doesn't kill Havok off in the meantime (at least a 50-50 chance).

It would seem as if in the transition period, modders are stuffed. My suspicion is that moderation of Nexus is so bad at the mo, if modders did find a way to add new Havok animations, moderators here would DEMAND proof of ownership of the Havok license, then ban the mod when no proof was forthcoming.

Face it, deep modding of FO4 is a real mess (look at the crashy CK, cell reset bug, and how changing the world space objects causes the 'vertibird hits buildings' effect. The FO4 engine is a literal dead-end for Beth, as they transition to the iDTech engine. So Beth's desire to 'fix' 'difficult' mod support issues for FO4 is non-existent.

I'm not denying that modding FO4 is a cluster. I was simply wondering what the MS acquisition of Havok could potentially mean. Should we abandon all hope of ever seeing animation mods that fix some of the more terrible (and sometimes terrifying) issues?

Or should we continue plowing along as if Bethesda actually gives two shits?

Sorry, re-read your reply and found that you did answer the question.

There are still plenty of versions floating around on the net if you know where to look. (granted most are a few years old)

But sadly yes unless someone previously had a copy of it or knows where to "Find" a copy if Havok new animations are likely something that will not be coming.

I heard some talk about using multiple kenect's and some other program to make animations.

Forget what the other program is but hopefully it works.
