New to Oblivion!

I personally don't like Obscuro's Overhaul... I feel it drifts way too far from Bethesda's vision. Francesco's too.

That's why I've spent the last 2 years making my own that has all the cool tweaks but is almost indestinguishable except for a few little treasure troves of graphics improvements and NPCS

Hey, I just came to this thread to introduce to you an epic mod.

Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul. Go google it, 'OOO'.

It is probably the only mod you'll ever need. (because by itself it already contains most of the stuff said above such as better trading and commerce, new creatures, new apparel, new weapons, etc)

Check it out :D

I do not recommend it unless you played the game several times.

Why? Why do you say that?

I played the game several times, but each time was really short. Like, I played awhile, then stop permanently, then returned to it (started a new game each time) then stopped permanently again..

Hi friend,

AlfredTezlaf gave the shortest and best coment I read to this:

OBSE is an extension of Oblivions scripting capabilities, it basically makes more complex mods possible.

OBMM is the FOMM for Oblivion, the mod manager

BOSS is for sorting the load order, a must have when running a lot of mods.

WryeBash has a lot of features, it can fix some save game bugs, it can be used as a mod manager/installer (BAIN), but its most important feature would be the so called bashed patch. The bashed patch basically makes your mods go well together.

Try to download OBSE with internet explorer or Morzilla Firefox cause its essential.

Before I Forget, if you use a custom race from the beginning you need http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1815 and http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3485

Have fun

Harvald

i think i downloaded OBSE with google chrome, i had no problems downloading it, i just have no clue where i need to extract it to?

can i just extract it to a random folder on my desktop and instruct NMM to find it there?

More info.

The newer NMM (Nexus Mod Manager) does not get along well with OBMM. If you are using OBMM, in order to use the new NMM you will need to remove all of the mods you installed using the OMOD installer from OBMM, then remove OBMM. And then reinstall those mods using the newer NMM install. While the NMM does not yet have all of the features of OBMM, it will, and it can be used with the other games we support here also. It already has one killer feature that OBMM doesn't have - the ability to download the mod for you, then install it - that is what the new "download with installer" button on the mods is for.

As for OBSE, as it is not a mod, but a script extender, and does not install like a mod, you are going to have to read the instructions to install it - It's actually very simple - Download, unzip, copy paste 3 or 4 files into the proper folder. Once it is installed, ALWAYS use the OBSE launcher to start the game or it will not be loaded - There is a built in function in NMM, OBMM and Wrye Bash to automatically launch OBSE first if you start from on of those tools.

i extracted the OBSE files to my steam oblivion folder, C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\oblivion

wich is where the readme tells me to put it

but i still cant install the mods that i downloaded with NMM

these mods i have downloaded but cant install atm, Darnified UI, Map Marker overhaul, RealisticLeveling, Unique Landscapes Compilation, HGEC Body with BBB v1.12 3442

these mods i can install but my game crashes when i click start new game or load game, TaC_1_5-39255-v1-5, Coronerras Maximum Compatibility Skeleton, Oblivion War Cry, NoMaaM BBB animation Replacer, High Rez Skin Textures for HGEC, colourwheels_Sexy_Stock_Armor_and_Clothing, All Male Bodies AMB

this mod i could install and it doesnt crash my game, Sounds of Cyrodill

so i guess i have decent sound but not much else :)

not sure but i suspect something is still messed up with OBSE, or with NMM

OBSE readme tells me i have to launch the game through steam, but then im not sure how ill get the mods from NMM included in the game, and it sounded like NMM should launch OBSE on startup from the above poster

ill just play unmodded for now, ive been pulling out my hair trying to get this to work the last few days LOL

Noob question for the experienced out there: Mods like HGEC Body,Compatibility Skeleton, the skin textures, etc; by installing these mods, do they change the look/performance of all NPC's in the game? Or is it something that only affects the player character?

Those will effect all NPCs along with the player character.

True Body Shapes allows you to use different assets for the player character than the NPCs, though it's still a work in progress. Your mileage may vary.
