Thalassicus
I'm somewhat confused about what affects detection. I have the following abilities: Silence - "Walking and running do not affect detection."Unhindered - "Light armor weighs nothing." Since the weight of armor affects detection, this means light armor should no longer affect detection.Nightingale boots - "Wearer moves silently." I'm assuming this means footsteps cannot be detected. With these traits I did an experiment. I ran up to a hostile mob and they detected me at 10-15 meters away. I then reloaded and moved up while sneaking. They did not detect me until I physically bumped them. This doesn't make any sense if the abilities above do what they say they do. In particular, can anyone confirm if Silence actually works? The perk implies walking and running are equal to sneaking, so we could run everywhere and drop into sneak just to perform sneak attacks. That would make sense as a valuable high-rank perk. However, I could not discern any difference between having or not having the perk. Edited November 16, 2011 by Thalassicus
dartanian
I think the effects are only active while sneaking , But with invis and muffle on while walking around i have always been detected, They never fully detected me but the heard some thing etc and searched . PsYchotic666Joker
light sound items and skill levels help ( yours and their's )bows and daggers make no sound, every other weapon makes more sound, some more than others...magic is bad in stealth cause of the light and sound both

It doesnt mean you will sneak without going in crouch position. U also can do rolls forward by pressing sprint. SHIROryuu
Heavy armor will make you detectable. Unless you've got high level sneak skills. Would be difficult to get while wearing said heavy armor. The standing stones will help there, with the 20% bonus. Light armor, even the higher grade(glass) will be much quieter then any heavy armor, while still giving good defense. Now if you're keen you can enchant your gear to make it better. Or join the dark brotherhood. The gear you get is quite useful.
Thalassicus
I think I figured it out. "Walking and running do not affect detection" implies all walking and running. I now believe it does not improve normal running, only while sneaking... those last two words are missing, so the perk is ambiguous. I think what they meant to say is "moving while sneaking does not affect detection." However, this seems to be redundant with the Nightingale Boots, which silence our movement. I believe those boots are useless if we have the perk. Edited November 17, 2011 by Thalassicus
