Scaled spellcasting

More specifically, destruction magic. One of the more intelligent complaints I've seen frequently up in the official forums (don't go there; it's like watching a giant dogpile of fanboys baying at the moon) is that destructive magic doesn't scale for the PC. Melee and ranged attacks do, and the NPC magicuser's destructive spellcasting does, but the PC tops out around level 50 and spells don't improve after that. Given that all my characters involve magic use to some extent, this is a real killer to considering Skyrim. And judging from those the threads that mention this, some people have already back-drawered the game until this is dealt with, either by the devs or by modders.

I created a mod that scales destruction damage and generally improved magical combat. Please check it out and let me know what you think. Here's the link: http://www.skyrimnex...ile.php?id=2275

I've actually been watching your mod for a little while, thanks. :) Going to see how it develops. In any case, I've put off playing more Skyrim until after the CS comes out and plenty of modders get to work on producing improvements to the core package.

I'm sick of it taking 20 ice storm spells; ICE STORM SPELLS, to kill an atronach. And my flames/frostbite/sparks spells are still at 8 damage a second.

It's shitty such important things DON'T scale with you.

Another thing: Magicka cost should decrease the higher you get in a certain school. Like how a Destruction mage can get more charges out of a lightning staff, than an Alteration mage. Like I said, it takes about 20 ice storm spells for me to kill a flame/storm atronach, but I cast 5 of them, and my magicka is completely depleted.

I completely understand - I think many of us were a bit disappointed not to get our hands on the tools as soon as the game was released. I have always been impressed with the ingenuity and talent of the elder scrolls modding community, and like you, will be eagerly looking forward to seeing what sort of great mods will be created once the creation kit is available. :)
