Narvask
Hello, Is there a way to change the clothes on an NPC? My wife looks like a homeless begger so would love to change her clothes
InuyashaFE
Have her follow you, replace her clothes with something else, tell her to part ways. At least, that's how it works for companions. Edited November 16, 2011 by InuyashaFE
TwiggySkyrim
only if you give them armor better than they already own. I guess you could swap the nif files around and rename them so that begger clothes look like other clothes, you would need to know a little bit about modding though. sarnz
Actually, that would be a pretty cool mod, to have the NPCs change their clothes daily. They all have cupboards and stuff in their houses, and they could just switch them each day to give the game a bit different flavor, would be pretty cool. You can give them gear of lesser quality and they will wear it . IF you remove all the gear they have. The hidden gear on most has to be revealed via console commands and can then be removed. THen you can equip them with whatever you liketo see. commands to use.select the npc in question from console: showinventory note the gear you wish to remove removeitem (baseitemcode) 1 the 1 is the number of items of that code you wish to remove. It has to be used or command will fail. if the npc is the sort you can not access a normal trade window so as to hand them the item you wish them to use or wear.Useadditem (itemcode) 1 DO not include the parenthesis in these commands. So, you can force someone to wear a dress or just plain clothing instead of heavy armor, whatever. Note, some NPC's have a habit of respawning default gear but this is fairly rare. FNV and Fallout had a few such npcs. I'm sure similarexist here in Skryim. If you want a copy of that NPC's original gear to keep on hand just write it down for future reference or useplayer.additem (itemcode) 1 where 1 is the number of items of that sort you want in inventory. HaikenEdge
Know what would be cool? The ability to pickpocket somebody's clothes right off of their body. I know this is more of a joke, but in D&D, there have been epic rogues who could steal their own pants without realizing it; surely something like this could be possible if the player has maxed Pickpocket and a high number of skill boosts going on as well. Actually, you can do this in Skyrim, if you max out your Pickpocket skill, approach from behind & undetected (when in doubt, an Invisibility spell ensures undetection)
BGatot
It didn't seem to work. I tried to give my character's husband Balimund something nicer than that blacksmith outfit that he has. First I did the remove all, and he's naked now, wearing only loincloth. THen I reverse-pickpocket him an emperor's outfit. He didn't wear it. I remember that in Fallout you have to exit the cell and get the character to refresh before the new thing is worn. So I exited the house, but when I entered the house again, he's back wearing his blacksmith outfit!
