Mod Installation Order and Conflicts

Nah just kidding, trying to break the ice of the stone cold modders inhere. So tell me how am I doing? Am I making any friends?

 

Joke aside, as the tittle already suggest I am looking for advice in the installation order of the below listed mods. For those that might recognize me, yes you were right; I admit modding is addictive…

 

NOTE: Fair warnings, some of these mods are not »compatible« for they add the same effects as in the case of the lighting mods, but I assume you already knew that. I have been using some of this mods around 1/3 of the listed. For the major part they worked well together - a little issue on a spec armor texture from aMidianBorn Book of Silence.

 

Now to make things clear, I am using NMM for I am a rookie and have not dived into MO yet and have no intension to do it in the near future (after all it would be about time to actually play the game). I have LOOT, SKSE as well a TES5Edit installed. My main prob is not knowing which mods to prioritize, for no matter on how you install it at some point you will have to choose to override files. Now I split the mods into two categories, the first (market with a star “*”) is the one that troubles me and the second (unmarked) is the one that I do not expect any troubles with, for this are smaller patches that should always prevail in the override conflict. For example Realistic Water Two (as far as my understanding goes) should be installed at the end of the texture mods for it will re-do the water texture, followed by Transparent wave spray Retexture by Pfuscher - waves 1.0. However this is the easy part, the main texture are my main prob and I hope that maybe someone has used the following mods before or has knowledge about what installation order they should have and which should be taken into consideration and which not.

Just so you know MO makes it so you dont have to worry about installation order.

 

You can control what overwrites what in left pane by simply dragging and dropping. You can also see exactly whats being overwritten.

 

With that said tho install order is generally like this. I am not gonna order every single mod for you but ill give a general guideline

 

Fixes/SKSE plugins

 

User interface

 

Graphhics base.....like skyrim 2k or noble skyrim......this is your graphics core which smaller mods will be overwriting parts of later.

 

Weather

 

lighting

 

Clutter and misc textures

 

landscape textures

 

Character

 

Armor and weapons retextures

 

Gameplay

So you're having issues with aMidianBorn textures exclusively or how to get specific textures from various texture mods?

 

 

Assuming it is texture issues, I personally install the larger packs I prefer before getting to the mods where I want a few textures and not the whole deal.

 

EG

Install aMidianBorn > Install specific armor retexture > overwrite specific relevant files.

 

If I'm mistaken just let me know but I hope that helps get you on the right path at least.

 

EDIT: Oh wow I'm dumb, I thought by now they did make a fully comprehensive aMidianBorn installer. My mistake.

Okey, so if I understand you correct the first mods from the list to be installed should be:

Now here I pref. The color from URWL over CoT, but it does not work well with ELFX if not mistaken. However I do pref the ELFX when it comes to interior lights, nights(URWL is fine here as well, not CoT thou) and dungeons.

Btw I run LOOT after all in installed/enabled + re-run SKE5Edit or is there no need for it?
