New Player needs help with game/main quest

Hi all,

I just started the game a little under a week ago and here's my problem: I have about 25 hours game-time. I am playing a wood-elf thief/archer and am now level 4. (lowest difficulty setting). I have been following the main quest-line and quite a few side-quests in Anvil, Chorrol and Bruma. Then I got to the Blood of the Daedra part of the main quest and now I cant advance; I found several shrines and I basically get the message that I am too low a level to continue. (Need a better Champion, it says and need to be level 17, what the hell??) I consulted a walkthrough and realized I am already Halfway through the main quest, and Im only level 4! That doesnt seem right. So what do I do now? Kill rats and run errands for the Guild untill Im level 17? Hehe

Also: it would be nice if there was some nicer lightweight armor or a bow for my archer, are there any Archer-related quests? It seems this game is really geared to either a mage or a standard warrior, all I find is heavy gear and huge weapons I cant use. So much for the open-ended-you can be whoever you want-RPG experience...

Any help here would be appreciated!

well for the armor i can tell you there is (in my eyes) no finer armor then the armor u get from dark brotherhood and you can also try do some thief guild or just use console to add you from level four to seventeen its alot easyer than the normal way but heck its ur choice, long hard way, one second level seventeen

At level 4, currently available Daedric Quest is.. Azura(required level is 2) and maybe Sheogorath. For main quest, only one Daedric artifact is needed.

**If you want level up, close some Oblivion Gates.. though it's tedious and boring.

Azura's Shrine can be found pretty far north of Bruma, but sacrificing the item you get (a Grand Soul Gem-equivelant that only empties when used, not vanishes) is pretty frowned upon. Sheogorath's is between Bravil and Leyawiin, just off the road. (But you get the Wabbajack for it, a staff that transforms whatever it hits into a random creature. You don't want to sacrifice that, do you? :P )

Well, I try not to use the console too much or at all, that pretty much would ruin the game. I did some more reading and I guess I will go do all the Guild quests and close Gates to level a bit.

Thanks for the input, consider this topic closed.

I sacrifice my Volendrung for that, simply because I don't use Blunt weapons =p

Well, there's no class specific quest in this game.

For most part, Archer is considered a lightweight warrior which means you have to rely on melee battle too!

If you want a nice bow, I suggest you do "Mazoga the Orc" Quest in Leyawiin. Talk to the count there with the topic "Services for Leyawiin" and you do the rest. You can loot Black Bow from the Black Bow Bandits which I think is quite nice :)

Every lightweight armor you find is for your Archer. Let me rephrase this again, there's no class-specific things in this game.

You can be an Archer but in the late game, you could switch your style into a heavy armored Warrior! I did the other way around! :D

My "Lord" Class (Yes, custom class) started with a Heavy Armored with Longsword and Heavy Shield dude then after I max his Heavy Armor and Blade skill, I put those heavy armor away and use my Light Armor and BLunt Weapons instead. Of course, I did some training first then head into quests.

The only reason I did main quest is at least I reach the part where the Paradise opens up and that means more Oblivion Gates! and to get Dragon Imperial Armor.

I certainly wouldn't use the console to level up. But at level 5 you get another couple of Daedra quests - Vaermina and Namira. Mind you I wouldn't want to lose Namira's ring. The staff of corruption on the other hand...
