Console Cheat Setcrimegold...

I didn't know where else to post this question so forgive me if it's in the wrong place. Am I the only one who this console command doesn't work for? What am I doing wrong?

I got caught (magically since I was indoors with nobody else in the room???) by a couple of guards killing a woman and when I attempted to use the cheat "Player.setcrimegold 0" Nothing happened/ it didn't work. I even tried player.setcrimegold 000.

Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to capitalize some letters in that command or something? Does anyone have any idea?

Lots of sites say this code works so I'm wondering if they're just wrong..

Crime is tracked by region now so it's probably stored in some of the globals. Try doing "help crime 2" in console. If not 2, then whatever value is associated with global variables. It should give you a list of stuff. You can change any of those with use of "Set <global name> to <value>".

Then maybe there is a command for it, I've yet to try what you suggested though, I will when I get back to my personal computer. What I do know, though, is that the console commands list on UESP and other wikis does not list anything to do with crime or bounty...but, it could be an incomplete list since the game hasn't even been out a week.

Fortunately there is an ingame form, variable, and function search feature, so as long as you know what something might be called, know what kind of thing it is, you can usually locate it. The help function is damn useful until we get a CS. Already made my horse and companions essential.

Here, with a little deeper research, I found this on one of the wikis:

This IS a console command IN SKYRIM, however, when entered it appears to have no effect and your bounty will remain unchanged. The console recognizes the command though because "could not parse this line" does not come up when entered. Any ideas why this might be? Reizl 18:33, 13 November 2011 (UTC)

Ok so after a little more testing i have found that you can set your bounty higher by selecting (clicking on) a guard and entering setcrimegold [qty] and your bounty for the faction to witch the guard belongs will be increased. additionally if you increase your bounty this way you can then reduce it to 0 once more by entering setcrimegold 0 however i could not reduce my bounty if i acquired it naturally by committing a crime.

So there you have it, the 'setcrimegold' command is there and works fine, but not in the way it's being attempted by most users.
