Deleted477949User
Probably best starting learning to model and texture 1st. There's no point worrying about the specifics of exporting and setting up the mod in game if you don't even have the gun. Max and blender have a metric f*#@ton (official measurement) of tutorials all over YouTube so pick one and dive in. Good luck.
N7R
I too am interested in knowing how to make a custom gun mod. When I mean gun mod I don't just mean mod attachments to a weapon but a brand new weapon for the game (plus mod attachments of course). Modeling, UV unwrapping, and creating custom textures is a piece of cake for me (been modeling for other pc games for years). I really am looking for some good tutorials on the actual process to convert said models to a nif and then what needs to be done to the model to define all its parts so they are hooked up correctly and animate the way they should. Been searching for some form of video or documentation on this process but it seems to be a lesser known process.
Rabbit1251
For starting out I might recommend downloading an existing gun mod and modify it rather than starting from scratch. If you mess up you can always go back to the original mod and try again. Once you can find your way around you can build your Dream Gun from the ground up. I have not modded very much at all myself, but there was a house mod in Skyrim that I liked so I used the Creation Kit to remove the stuff that I didn't like about it and added much more that I did. It all came out quite nicely. I didn't upload it, of course. For modding Fallout 4 you will need the Fallout 4 G.E.C.K. (of course). Here is the Official Bethesda G.E.C.K. Tutorial: http://www.creationkit.com/fallout4/index.php?title=Video_Tutorials If there are specific issues that you can't find there you can check the Skyrim Wiki also. Modeling in one is the same as the other. And you can always ask around here should you require specific help with anything. bon chance,The Rabbit

dimedius
Looking at another persons mod won't give you a good idea of the modeling part but rather mostly how the folder structure and files appear. It's good to look at the nif files too. The mesh at that point has been triangulated for game and so you'll see lots of triangles. You still can get a good idea of what the original mesh looks like but you're probably going to be confused. millenia had some good tutorials for fnv that I followed, it was like a 4 part series that had modeling, low poly, uv wrapping and texturing. Some things now are a tad bit different but most of it is the same. I am currently learning how to mess with PBR texturing myself since the engine supports it. I've trying to stream some of my stuff lately but its only on weekends and currently im just texturing. I feel this could be the boring part.
