elder8888
The Dell ultra wide curved 34 inch monitor 3440x1440 3k resolution is fantastic for Witcher 3. I cant believe my eyes. All the hard work that went into this game by CD Red, finally pays off with this monitor as set up properly. The colors density, the amazing detail, the lighting, especially the weather detail and colors, even the facial reactions were a big surprise for me coming from my ordinary 27inch monitor. And my single NV 9800 gamer even runs quiet and even cooler for some reason with all setting flat out and mods in it too. I made a simple air cooler that really works for it. I had to set the game in windowless mode to run in ultra wide. Hope that helps.I wasn't able to get the console to work anymore with the final patch, so I use the God mod with in game setting instead. Works better for me. Hope this helps. This is not 4k, it is better than 4k. It is 3k ultra wide photo-realistic gaming where I have put my money into a better monitor instead of more video cards so I can boost image quality instead of electrical power. This has allowed me to get into awesome photo-relist gaming with my existing video card. Witcher 3 must have used actual high resolution photos at its base because they show up by boosting new extreme image quality settings. Believe me, their is more quality high def. imagery in this game than you have ever seen before. Edited August 10, 2016 by elder8888
iXenite
You play the Witcher 3 with an Nvidia GT 9800 on a QHD monitor?
SajtosBuresz
And on ultra graphic settings? You sure it was the witcher 3 and not the witcher 1?
elder8888
Yes. A standard card will quickly overheat and shut itself down to thermaly protect itself under this situation due to the poor thermal air location of Video Cards. I am a thermal electronics engineer, so I built myself a special air cooling system for this. I had to use a card with an oversize 3 fan cooling system to start with, Gigabyte Gamer, Then add my special air booster. this multiplies the cooling by a factor of nine. It actually runs quiet too in ultra+ after adding all the graphic improvement mods I can find. Fallout 4 runs the same, Halife 2 is fantastic with the new graphics update, but I have had to hack the ini's on Skyrim and older Bethesda games to get them to look good run stable on my 34inch. rotchild
I went with watercooling (both CPU and GPU), and it's worth every penny. GPU starts at a temperature of between 20 - 25 Celsius. When it gets busy, it doesn't go beyond 55... CPU has similar numbers. If overclocked, it just raises a little bit, but not much. Pure awesomeness. elder8888
Now using the new mod just out, (Ultimate-extreme graphic settings) and set on the new extreme (in game settings) the mod makes for you. I used the simple optional file because it is easy to install. It makes a very big improvement in visual quality. It now looks like 4k to me, amazing. Heating still not a problem with my air cooling system, still running quiet. Congratulations on that water cooling job sounds fine, It really helps the stability and longevity of any electronics to keep the temperature down to 55-60c if you can. The standard video cards run way to hot due to unnecessary design compromises. It is really fun to improve your own system and enjoy the benefits, this adds to the experience greatly, it makes me proud to enjoy my system working so well. Getting double the expected performance out of your system is just fun. Now that I am getting used to this ultra wide monitor I don't think I could ever go back. Witcher 3 is incredible, I am amazed with the visuals seem so real, it just keeps getting better as I upgrade and find new mods that work so well. I really appreciate the hard work that is being put into this game and setting a high bar for new games to try to equal.
iXenite
I'll just assume from this point forward you're using an Nvidia GTX 980 and not the GT 9800 as your original post said. It makes a lot more sense that way.
elder8888
Yes it is a GTX 980 gamer factory overclocked from Gigabyte with the big 3 fan cooler. Lately I was starting to notice some lag at times but I found the low wind mod, and that settled the problem. The high wind in the game uses a lot of of video power and I found lowering the wind with the mod gives back more video power for the game. I just love the ultra extreme video allowing two more settings above ultra. You can actually see high definition cloth and facial texture now on all the characters. I have never seen that before in any game. Edited August 8, 2016 by elder8888
