LoganOleary
Ok...it has been ages since I downloaded a mod or any zip file and I can't seem to get it to work. I DL it and it's forcing me to use Adobe or Microsoft Word or Viewer or other programs that don't WORk to open it instead of unzipping it or whatever. It doesn't give me any options to send it anywere...help? Btw I'm using Win 7 , I installed 7 zip but no real idea how to use it I guess.
dragonbird
If you've installed 7-zip, use it to unzip rar or 7z files. Run the program first, then find the file you want to unzip. If it's a zip file, Windows should be able to unzip it direct.dzip files do NOT need to be "unzipped". Just place the dzip file in the location stated in the instructions for the mod. That's about as much as I can say, without knowing exactly which mod you're trying to install. If it doesn't help, can you give more details? What mod, and what is the file suffix.
LoganOleary
Ok, it's a 7z file. I DL it I open 7z but can't seem to find it from the 7z file manager page, I actually can't seem to find any of my downloads from that page. I feel like an idiot but never worked with this program before. My computer shows it in computer-local disk- users-user downloads but I can't seem to find that path from the 7 zip manager page. Yup, it uses a non-standard interface. To move up towards the 'drive" you need to click on the icon to the left of the current path name. Sometimes it's easier just to move the download into the location that 7zip is pointing to :) http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3716596/7zip.jpg

tommy5761
While 7z is a good extractor/packer there is an alternative for unpacking a zip file http://legroom.net/software/uniextract . When installed you have a right click option to Uniextract to a sub-directory or to a location of your choice . Very simple to use . While it will not pack files but used as an unpacker it works great .
LoganOleary
Ugh...I about give up. I tried a simple mod to see if I could get it to work, the Triss nude one. Nothing seems to work...I dl it, open it in Witcher main folder, nothing. I try copying the 'cookedpc' folder AFTER you open it that the instructions say and copy that to my Witcher folder, still it doesn't work. I tried several Dragon Age mods, none work. What is it I'm missing here? Very frustrated. Do I 'extract' do I 'open" I'm at a lose.
dragonbird
Is that this one?http://www.witchernexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=23 Can you list the files that were in the zip? Also, are you using the Steam version or something else? (It doesn't make a huge amount of difference, but will change the instructions slightly). That's the one yah, I'm at work so can't list the files atm. As I recall when I 'opened' it there was CookedPC folder at the top and some files under that that look like picture files. I'm not sure what version, whatever version the dl is from this site? Looks like I FINALLY may have got the Better Sex Scenes working for Dragon Age, it's in the right spot finally but havn't had time to test it yet. I'm not going to comment on Dragon Age mods, as I have no idea how they install. If you have any questions on that, please ask in a Dragon Age forum. If CookedPC is at the top level when you unzip, you need to copy this on top of the CookedPC folder in your main game directory. This folder will already exist. The subfolders beneath it may or may not, it doesn't matter, as the act of copying will create them anyway. You didn't reply to whether you're using Steam or not. If you are, the path to CookedPC will probably be:C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\the witcher 2\ if you have a 64-bit OS or C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\the witcher 2\ if you have a 32-bit OS If you don't use Steam, I'm not sure of the exact folder name, but look in your Program Files or Program Files (x86) for some reference to either The Witcher 2 or CD Projekt Red and work your way in from there. Or just do a search on your systems drive for CookedPC.
