Error code?

Yes I did run it from the launcher and from vanilla, and all the rest. I also did everything right and win10 was just jerking me around. It was saying that the .log file was a text document, and displayed it's extension as .txt. :/

I changed my folder settings so it wasn't doing that anymore, and found all the log files. Thank you for sticking with me through all this, I was about ready to give up. Is there some place I can go to look up the different error codes or just any of the log outputs NVSE puts in the log file? Or will it be something semi-sraight forward like 'xxxxx0 ENB.file failure bx33 _ FONV end.'?

Whew! Glad you figured that ".log" issue out, as I was running out of things to suggest. (Hate when that happens.)

As for NVSE error codes: I haven't found any documented, but I am not a FNV mod creator and so not very familiar with it. There is a list of functions here (but only up to v4.6B1). The "silverlock.org" site points you to the GECK site for documentation, but that link just leads you in a circle of empty links. Hopefully some who knows more will help out.

What the log will tell you is the mod that the error is from. You then need to report the problem, NVSE version, and error message(s) to the mod author. Searching the Internet for the exact error and mod sometimes works as well.

In the folder Data\NVSE create a new text file and name it nvse_config.ini

Make sure "hide known file types" is disabled in windows folder options (this is a windows setting) ,or it will have a hidden .txt extension which you don't want.

copy and paste the following into it

[Logging]
EnableGameErrorLog=1

This will enable the games error log, which will then be found in your New Vegas root folder (where you put NVSE).

There will be two files, falloutnv_error.log and falloutnv_havok.log , the first one is very useful for finding broken stuff in mods or the cause of crashes. Not everything in it is an error so keep that in mind, some are just warnings.

@Dubious : Fair enough, I'll give that a look over and see what I can find from it. Thankfully I was able to sort that out now rather than later as well.

@Roy: Alright, I enabled that, and thanks for telling me that much. I wasn't getting any error logs until I did that. I only ran the game and it gened the log....It's a pretty long one despite only just running the game at menu. I've followed all the install instructions well, looked over a few guides to make sure everything is okay....As far as I can tell its' all good, but is there any place I can take these codes to figure out where the problem is originating? I'll come back with more details after running it for real.
