dark caves?

in the old days of oblivion there wouldn't be a cave that i could explore without using at least 2 torches, since it was dark and i needed the torches to actually see, and it was long so i needed more than one.

in skyrim even the darkest caves\dungeons i have explored didn't require me ONCE to use a torch or a light spell.. i can see perfectly in the dark.. i wonder if its a problem in my end or its like this for everyone.

..not that i complain that much it is annoying as hell to switch back and forth from weapon to torch.. still didn't figure out how to make it so a torch is used when weapons are sheathed ONLY.

Caves and nights in Skyrim are too bright for my liking. I haven't had to use a torch yet, though I've used a couple of light spells to find small objects amid clutter. Ideally, you shouldn't be able to see in a cave without a torch. (ruins populated by Draugr are a toss-up) The only reason I need extra light as-is is to search for keys or gold in dark corners.

nope i used the oblivion's vanilla caves.. all the darkness mods were too dark for my taste, especially since it was already dark.

come to think of it, i did use weather- all natural which does something to the lighting system if i recall.. but i used torches even b4 that mod so that point is moot.

compared to skyrim its like night and day, and i will NOT turn down the brightness as i like it just the way it is, making it darker just so i won't see in the game will make everything else too dark too.. will ruin it for me.

You didn't need a torch in Oblivion. You had Darker Nights installed, don't lie.

It was darker than Skyrim and while you didn't "need" them I noticed than when I used them I would find things I didn't see before. Skrim is so bright it never even occurs to me to use light of any kind.

well i think skyrim's caves and dungeons just have a lot more light sources than oblivion's. hence why you didn't NEED torches to find your way to the exit in oblivion but without torches you would surly miss a lot of items and chests and traps. Edited by asafbl

Agreed. There are usually a lot of lanterns and candles about.

I'm still using my candlelight spell now and then after clearing out the baddies though as there are definitely some dark nooks and crannies where items hide. :)
