adytum
Hi! I run the game in 1650x1080, and on ultra my fps is around 25-40, with the 6870 and Amd 965 be @ 3,4.It's not a big issue, but I'm just curious as to where I should look for improvement, gpu or cpu? soot00
Your cpu is just fine alongside your graphics card. Wait for the next patch 1.2 upcoming, aside from bugs am sure there will be some performance improvements. Shadows for one is a huge frame killer and won't be surprised if Bethesda optimizes their shadowing code a tad.
kamatsudash
Hi! I run the game in 1650x1080, and on ultra my fps is around 25-40, with the 6870 and Amd 965 be @ 3,4.It's not a big issue, but I'm just curious as to where I should look for improvement, gpu or cpu? I'd say it's the game/drivers issue here and not your computer. I have an AMD Phenom II x4 965 BE @ 3.6 with an HD5870 and I'm getting 50-60 fps with Ultra settings on 1920*1080. We have the same cpu although I've o/c'ed mine a bit and different cards - from benchmarks I've seen, mine is better generally.. but even when taking this into account I wouldn't expect you to loose up-to half or more then fps I get. .2 GHz & possible better video card should equate to 5-10? fps difference.. not the 10-35 fps difference we have. And I'm running on a higher resolution than you as well.. which is more taxing on cpu & gpu... you really should be getting higher fps imho ;/ Have you tried different video drivers? Like I'm still using 11.9 drivers.. if you have a different version, try upgrading/downgrading to these, or use the latest drivers if you have 11.9 or less. Search through these forums, there's quite a few .ini tweaks and such going around which might also help you out.
SHIROryuu
I think it could also be 16:10 resolution. Mine runs perfect on ultra 1080p, but at 1680x1050 I get minor hiccups. It's odd...
tmx
I am using:-Core2Quad Q6700 2.66ghz (old despite the speed)-fanless PowerColor AMD HD5700. Video card settings:1920x10802xAA2xAFMipmap Detail Level - Highest qualityOthers - OFF Game settings:Texture Quality - HighWater - All ONRadial Blur & Shadow - LowView Distance - Max ALLGrass Fade - OFF (Only because its easier to see enemy and objects, but I think it help with FPS a lot too.) My FPS ranges from 40-60fps. AMD Catalyst latest drivers here: desktop, laptop Edited November 19, 2011 by tmx
adytum
Thanks. I've tried a lot of ini tweaks, and also updated to the latest drivers. It didn't make much of a difference. The drops are most noticeable outdoors, especially during the first scenes when I'm about to be beheaded. At this point, I want to spend every available moment actually playing this magnificent game, so I'll try some different drivers, wait for a patch and cross my fingers. :)
adytum
Update: After a lot of further tweaking, first and foremost the Amd-specific tips found in this thread, I can run the game at max usually between 50-60 fps. The real killer seems to be shadows, haven't found any way to make them not pixelated, really annoying.
