lelcat
I am having a problem in Fallout 4 with the WORLD LOD. It is invisible ingame, but not in the editor. Completely invisible. Not even pink textures. The reason I am posting this is in the Skyrim section is because I hope someone experienced with Skyrim LOD can offer advice.I found some old Skyrim guides that state that if an LOD is completely invisible, it means the .lod file in LODSETTINGS is broken. Di0nysys
Usually it's enough to copy a vanilla .lod file and rename it to your worldspace. Did you actually generate land and object lod for your world?
lelcat
The LOD will show after generation in the editor. There is an option in the Fallout 4 creation kit in preferences to show LOD. But it will never show up ingame. What does a .lod file actually contain? It can not be openened in a notepad readable format. I guess the cell information? And where can I find a vanilla lod file? agerweb
Tamriel.lod is in the Skyrim - Meshes.bsa just copy it and rename to your worldspace. Oscape gives you an option to save a lod file so that's probably easier - assuming it all works with Fallout4
lelcat
If I extract and rename a Fallout 4 lod file, won't it be overwritten when I press generate?
agerweb
Yes - depending on whatever generation process you are using. If you get a lod file generated then you don't need to extract a vanilla one and rename.
lelcat
That is the problem, When pressing generate, it creates a .lod file and "successfully" generates the lod after some time. But the LOD is invisible ingame. And the only clue I have is that an invisible LOD is related to the .lod file.
lelcat
Just tried the following: Extracted the commonwealth.lod and renamed it to my world.lod, then made it read-only and put it in the folder LODSETTINGS. Then generated the lod. The problem still is the same. The LOD is invisible in the game.
agerweb
As far as Skyrim is concerned nobody uses the CK LoD generator because it doesn't work properly (I use Oscape and LODGen), I have no idea whether that is the case for Fallout 4 - Your probably better asking in those forums. lelcat
I only know one modder who made working LOD for his mod, and he actually helped me by generating the LOD for my mod on his machine, and it worked. But whatever I generate on my machine wont work. Tried reinstalling, tried it on my office pc. The LOD simply remains invisible. I have several suspcicions perhaps the world space settings. But I tried generating someone else's world LOD and it would not work.
