ruvuk
Never even considered killing Paarthanax. And the Blades? All 2 of them, right? Sure, they knew the history and the secrets, but I got tired of them in a hurry. I was actually sort of pleased when they went off in a funk. <lol> And after finding the Dragonrend, I'm not sure what else they were going to help with. Aside: I'm playing a guy right now who doesn't get caught up in the whole dragon panic until close to Level 40. When Hadvar said, "We'd better split up," I took him at his word and headed west. The game has been way more fun for me. Lots of time to explore and enjoy Skyrim. Lots of fun going into some of the old tombs and kicking butt w/o any concern about quest objectives. Mostly, though, giving the dragon panic a pass meant that every single darn quest that came up wasn't a MAD DASH. I joined the Legion at about Level 30 and enjoyed the Civil War a lot--way more than I ever expected. Now I'm finally learning about the dragons, and it seems like a much better story line to me. I was always a little weirded out when, 30 minutes or so into the game, I learn that *I* am the Dragonborn. Save the world, you say? Funny thing is that I just had my first talk with Delphine in the secret room under the inn--I was being nice, but I wasn't the green noob that I was when I first played the game. After listening to Delphine fuss and boss and complain awhile, she finally said something like, "Well, you're a fool if you don't trust me and came here anyway." Something like that. I'd had enough of her. I just ended the dialog with her and walked out. The last thing I heard her say was something about how I'd change my mind soon enough. We'll see. I've been doing other things, and pretty soon I'm going to return the Horn to the Graybeards. I'm very curious to see if they do something that pushes me back to Delphine to get back on the storyline track. I'd love to just skip the ever-uptight Blades altogether. <lol>
ilikecheese1337
Killing Paarthurnax is just a silly idea. I like Esbern, but he's paranoid and driven half-mad by the Thalmor to the point where he can't see reason. Delphine is just arrogant and stupid. Even if it is moral to kill someone out of vengeance for crimes they committed millennia ago and spent their whole lives trying to put right (Paarthurnax saved and helped save the mortal races' collective backsides twice), it's still a ridiculous idea because Paarthurnax is teaching other dragons the Way of the Voice. There are hundreds or thousands of dragons, all immortal unless killed by Dovahkiin, and we don't know if they can reproduce or if Akatosh can make more - turning some into pacifists is the best option for damage control. Paarthurnax - an ancient and extremely knowledgeable dragon with great influence on the dragons - would be far more helpful against the Thalmor in the inevitable Second Great War than two human fighters incapable of clear reasoning ever could be.
