Completely Overwhelmed... :(

you can do this, sense the process is separate from the main game and MO will extract all data to where ever you decide to do it, you can make a clean copy else where and not tamper with current results as we have now.

you then can use the process on a separate thing and still have access to the gaming software with out reguards to clean systems processes.

make any sense?

Sort of...You want me to go into Mo and make ANOTHER extraction of the base game and it's DLCs (in order). In an entirely different spot that's safe.

Then run the Pyffi process again, this time on the newest copy, and let it go while we continue to work on the first extraction we made?

Chance has it, system vveriations, GFWL, FOSE ,Incorrect setups, .NET updates, you name it, all comes to bare.

Makes me think I should do a complete system clean before starting a project like this. I am over-due my annual tune-up. The only reason I haven't wiped my hard drive in so long is because of modding projects like this. (well maybe not like this) I still can...it would just take me several weeks to redownload all my Steam games.

Your windows Glitch? like wow ! , brings me to believe the system is NOT up to date.

I'm not sure what was up with that. It was traced down to simply a missing shortcut, but the whole folder and it's corresponding shortcuts were completely missing from the Windows folder. Baffling...anyway I know for a fact that my OS isn't up to date because like 2 weeks ago, my roommate got a system update on his Windows 10. (we installed off the same exact .exe) There a couple minor changes that he has that I don't. I still haven't been prompted about the update and forcing windows to search for updates doesn't do anything. So I'm just waiting.

Correct.

Correct, we are here to help you learn, IF we accomplish this task and we see you have found out what we know to be true, then it's worth our time invested here.

Wipe it before you can't download windows 10, your rather short on time here ? if there is any left? Microsoft was pulling their offers at the end of the mount.

windows 7 ultimate or pro will do with every last update for that machine possible, you will find out running that update will continue to invite new product each run. It's not just 1 time, it's many many times until it can find no more updates...from that point, you download all variants of .net , not yet installed, once done and every version is installed, you run updates again. all done and no more updates available no matter how many times you run it, then you update windows to windows 10 and it is auto-updating all the time.

I can afford all of this, many can not, so grab whats currently free now while you can. important to know all there is to know.

From Microsoft directly and from all over the world we live in, this information is just every where and it is always the same.

"ORDER", as in the correct order.

you want to learn more? lol, oh boy, hang tight babe. we are not alone.

Oh I don't download it lol. We have the x64 Pro installer on a flash drive here. Just gotta back up everything you wanna keep, restart the pc with the drive in and the installer kicks on. Tell it to format > install > done. Takes minutes.

Just...backing up everything takes hours. And re-downloading everything like drivers n such takes several days unless I take my PC somewhere with good internet.

Or, go to the store now and buy a cheap 500 gig or 1 /2 terabyte hard drive and really ! start fresh.

Oh i don't have any money to spend right now lol. I'm broke (aside from emergency funds) after I bought that graphics card. That's the challenge here: I'm interested in what we are doing, very familiar with the operating system we are using, I have all the time in the world and powerful system. But no money to buy or replace anything.

Which has me sort of worried to be honest. The LAST thing I would expect Fallout to do is be demanding on my system. But this Pyffi process?... I don't want to sound like I'm complaining here, this is merely a concern, but my CPU and motherboard are the only hardware left of my rig that remain of the original DELL XPS from 9 years ago. Everything else has been upgraded. So while I have Ripjaw RAM, state-of-the-art fans and chassis and a GTX 960...my processor and motherboard are nearly a decade old. So when I run things that peg my CPU at 100% for 10+ hours...I can't help but worry.

But enough of that...

This? ...I'm not so sure about this.

Yes. This would ensure that you are absolutely up-to-date on everything. Formatting the hard drive then going ALL the way back to Windows 7 Ultimate (Which I own) Then slowly upgrading back up to 10.

However.

Like I mentioned before, I'm sort of on a vacation. To the extent that I even loaned my car to my sister because her truck broke and I didn't need it. So not only am I broke, I am stuck at home. Which is fine with me for now. I have other means of getting about. But the point is, right now, I am pretty much ONLY on my computer. I'm up at 7 - 10am and on the computer immediately and constantly until 10pm - 2am. I don't do anything else except draw and play guitar a little. I'm on my PC like 15 hours a day.

I didn't get three monitors just for the fun of it. Our whole world here of Fallout and this forum and everything being taught and learned here is taking place on just one of my screens off to the side (except for when Fallout is running. That goes on main screen). At all times I have RuneScape open training something and usually a "main" game like Metal Gear or Doom going on on the center screen. The only time I put those other things down is when Fallout demands my attention. It is my main focus and has absolute priority. But when it's not (like when I'm waiting for MO to process something or waiting for your reply) I'm focused on other things.

So if I were to start formatting my hard drive and cleaning my system, I wouldn't even be able to start recovering all my games and software until AFTER I had updated 7 to 10. Which I have no idea how long that would take. I would literally just be sitting here with nothing to do for days lol. That's why I didn't like that Pyffi process. It takes up so much processing power, that I can't use my computer while it's going on. And that's all I do lol, is sit on my computer. I don't have another computer I can use. I don't even own a console system a notebook or a tablet. Last handheld I owned was a DS Lite. 100% PC gamer. For this little patch of my life, if my computer isn't running, I have nothing to do except random chores around the house and sleep lol.

I can't give up my computer. Like, at all. Even for a few hours. However...

This is theoretical, but could start immediately:

- Play games while I wait for perishable data to be transferred to external hard drives.

- Right before going to bed, format hard drive and set Windows 10 (yes 10, not 7) to install over-night. (even though it only takes like an hour)

- When I get up, I'll have my "new" clean operating system ready for software and updates.

- Install backed up drivers and software like Chrome, MO, Python, Steam, ect.

- Play "small" games like RuneScape and emulators while Steam downloads Fallout 3 and the other games and updates.

This would NOT take me back to windows 7 and then back forwards like you suggested. But this WOULD clean my system without me having to give up my computer for days.

If you absolutely insist on going all the way back to 7, then I will have to save this project for another day when I'm busy and away from my computer more often. (as odd as that sounds) Because I am just not down to sit here and do nothing but stare at Pyffi and Windows updater.

Honestly, from the sounds of it, in order to do this whole thing by the book, you damn near need a whole computer lab. You need various operating systems and software from different times. An ungodly amount of storage space and entire processors that need to be left unattended at max use for days at a time. It's not a really a project for a no-life gamer with 1 machine.

DELL XPS from 9 years ago;,my processor and motherboard are nearly a decade old.

I had no idea.

no, not insisting, just advising of the correctness required.

it's entirely up to you what you decide to do. .net software's considered out of data won't be allowed to fully install on 10.

the processes are done in an orderly fashion even with windows. but you can squeeze by with out them, it's the other programs that need them.

you damn near need a whole computer lab

you have one now, it sits inside your brain, you have built things to a point where you understand it good enough to know better.

lets boil things bit here.

  1. windows fully updated and stable
  2. steam installed and it is fully updated and stable.
  3. fallout 3 GOTY edition fully installed and updated with related game components. GECK.
  4. clean registry file with no mistakes made.
  5. Clean UI for windows programs un-messed up.
  6. Directions repeated as instructed to the letter.
  7. fresh space and a clear head..with tons and tons of coffee !!, snacks.
  8. Shear / raw determination to complete all tasks as dictated.
  9. No experimental additions any where, no mods any where....Focus.
  10. Get back all the way to this point where we left off and have a clean game run able through MO with no CTD's.

verify files. make sure all things a are set as default. but installed NOT in window's Domains, else where.

forget graphics tweaks until your feat are soaked to the brim with knowledge...then mess with anything you like.

End up with a very large mod you can turn on or off at a whim. "Focus"

I am struggling with a couple of your requests, though.

4) What exactly do you mean by a clean registry file? I usually steer clear of regedit because you can seriously mess up your OS in there if you don't fully understand it. Which I don't.

5)By "clean UI" I'm assuming you mean my computer desktop, task bar, start menu and quick access links aren't just a disastrous mess. My OCD has us covered there. My data is well organised. I even make my own icons for everything.

6) I went back to step one and double-checked for updates. Everything checks out and is up-to-date. Not sure what else this step entails.

7) Fresh space is easy to come by here. I have very little distractions or responsibilities for the time being (well, relatively. Everyone has stuff they have to do) Just me and my dogs here. It's sunny out and I keep my desk clean so my environment is positive. I'm not being pressured or distracted while at the computer. My roommate keeps the fridge full of Monster and I have an espresso machine if things get really late.

8 ) Got that. I'd like to do this EXACTLY as you specify, unfortunately (as we predicted) I run into my own hurdles over here on my end that you don't over there. It's quite a challenge.

9) None. As far as Fallout goes, I am only touching any of it when you direct me to. I don't want to mess with something when I THINK I know what I'm doing and end up ruining work we just completed.

10) I just can't get this one. When I launch the game through MO without sources checked, the game crashes on startup still. I've tried all the things I can think of: Archive Invalidation, verifying game cache, drivers, xlive...I'm running out of ideas.

windows Event manager has applications from windows "windows apps only", of un needed useless data you can clear, do that.

C:\users\username\apps\local\temp <--delete contents.

C:\windows\temp..what you find in there will supersize you. Delete it all in there too. reboot.

I'm not being pressured or distracted while at the computer.

you should be so lucky ,wanna trade places? Can you handle 3 teens? + their friends and all that comes with it?

All girls...

the shot shows you have the older version of the geck ,I seriously doubt you will be able to update it. The link my friend provided you has the instructions for doing that piece of codes updating. The "fake" steam Bypass engine is to accommodate this update process. Do as outlined in the text.

That shot of the geck shows me where you were, understand, it tells the story.

10. use my ini files and this stage wont matter because of what I have just been told ,all things change, you can not use the older GECK or it's support software on 1.7 engine. So, download that link He provided you with and follow it's instructions until you get back to where we were.

Your choices you make here, are what determines what is posted as a direction. I can't read minds.

The software has no mind but is made to operate under very specific circumstances. This is where things get messed up.

windows XP was the current design platform for this game "Fallout 3" when shipped. Retail.

Windows AKA Microsoft made system changes meant for an office Environment NOT gaming. These two are not the same thing.

Windows is Generalized, not targeted office software.

xbox is gaming software.

PlayStation's are gaming softwares.

Steam is a go between OS< ------ Yes, it's an Operating system to meld together the office to the games.

Fo3 and a few other games were made using Games for Windows....PC, we call it xlive, converted to operate from xbox systems for the PC in general.

Even though the games are shipped BY steam are "imagined not to use GFWL? this is a falsehood, you can not remove the core of the games engine just because a company distributes that game....Steam did not design the game, it's still a windows game FOR PC made to run in windows For PC's a windows xlive game.

any place on the planet you see box fronts for these games, each product is clearly labeled with the platform the code that sits on it's medium is meant to run on.

Up and still the release of Fallout 4 and it's ck, all games were made for a 32bit Environment and were 32bit. The new CK now comes with 2 types of editing software's, one used for online conversions to xbox and PS systems are now there except the decryption software, that's not shipped with the distributed programs, it only downloads when you are logged in to their system and the instant your complete, key's for activating this software get wiped, there are left overs on the drive you can capture but are also keyed to a time index sop you can not reuse it.

a saved game is an archive, this is a storage medium for that "session", each product production you make using their software online is keyed into to an archive, a manifest is generated and keyed to the end results...the CRC of that is keyed backward to that manifested generated code stored in two places, 1 on their server under your logged in ID, account. and another on your hard drive within Steams systems. NO where else.

All of this means some code in steams product controls are needed to be updated and kept up to date ,which in turn effects all products controlled under your account on that PC or BOX. Tied into your purchases. Short (DRM) we will dispense with long term explanations.

this game, Fo3. has been in circulation under many regions, distributed and coded for all those , but steams games are set up specifically for their distribution codes. Fallout New Vegas; <--- that is the only game to date the steam systems provide an upgraded already to go GECK / Kit.

Fallout 3's kit can not be downloaded separately from there. Brand new purchase from steam provides the update GECK on install.

It is solely dependent on Steam and their system for any support software it requires, it's not meant for RETAIL Games.

"Disclosure". the version ID# 1.1.0.36 tells me what you have, what is sitting on that hard drive and it tells me how it was obtained.

I know packages provided were for retail and updated links based on XP systems NOT windows 10 9 years later. Not steam.

geck_revised.jpg

what I expected to see was this.

sense that's not what I seen, I can expect you not to be able to complete the tasks required, I can expect most of the things I tried to teach you won't be possible with out getting around all these hurdles.

on a blank slate, I can install steam, do all the things listed, install the game raw, and its' required support software all from steam and have a fully operational game with or with out MO being involved.

the choices of managers directed for use with this game operates for a good reason, they are built for it in mind.

The software the game and the geck were designed for are clearly written right here in front of you ,read the fine print on the picture in both yours and mine.

------------------------

For what ever reason your game crashes, it has to do with what ever your doing there...not the data, but usage of it.

By pass instruction have been made available here in public for fallout 3 CK and steam work around posted long ago by JustInOther specifically for this reason.

Learning all of this ? it's hard hun, you can't rush things. you can't skip things, you can not just do this or that and expect it to work just because you see some one else post so.

some where there has to be a reason something is not working, that dinosaur PC could be why, it's drivers are way out of date for it's hardware, your drivers for the screen and that 3 monitor setup as I have just been slammed hard about could be why.

on a dedicated monitor, you need only worry about sync with one device the OS and the games software react with.

the last editing tool used whether or not it is game, system, vid card ,what ever even Fomm has ruling power over the graphics setup the game will follow, throw in to that mix 3 different pieces of graphics display settings? it gets Nut's.

-----------------------------

I personally must take all of this into consideration in order to advise of any to guide you. Blind folded.

The glitches ? ok, well you might experience a tingling sensation doing things your not supposed to to with that wall plug there.

an answer ? My best guess, you missed something some where and I know it. What you missed? I have no way to know that other than a complete start to finish process as millions have testified does in fact cure this common fault.

The time though? is really bad timing. Thanks to Microsoft greed.

C:\users\username\apps\local\temp <--delete contents.

oh....my....god....

....The temp folders... D:

I had completely forgotten about maintaining those. Oh dear, come to think of it, I don't think I've deleted the contents of those folders since I installed windows 10 a week after it launched.

I...am afraid to look. :S

*navigates to AppData temp folder*

:O ...oh it's bad lol. Oh my....

http://3.1m.yt/rqn39Uo.jpg

It took my PC three attempts to open the temp folder without crashing. It took nearly half an hour to delete everything.

Windows/temp just had like 100 files in it or so. And yes, I emptied the recycle bin and restarted lol.
