Enable Parents

Does anyone know if there is a limit to the amount of things that can be enabled by a single parent, or if there is a maximum distance, or cell limit?

in the view windows, do you see a border color? yellow is caution, green is ok, maroon is approaching the limits, red is over the limits.

That's not what I asked. I asked if there is a limit to the amount things I can have be enabled by a single parent xmarker, and if there is a limit to how far that marker is to the objects or there is any engine bugs when the xmarker is in another cell or worldspace.

I don't think there is a limit. I've used enable parents for stuff indeed in other worldspaces and cells with no issue

To give an idea, I once put an xmarker in a custom empty room and gave a bunch of things in other cells and worldspaces that xmarker as the enable parent because that way it was easier to find (just pick it up in the dropdown menu by selecting the custom empty cell with just the marker in it), and it all worked as intended ;)

Enable parents are set on the child reference and not the parent, right? So theoretically, there shouldn't be a limit on the number of these relationships per parent. Of course there could be some practical limitation because of an engine fault or whatever, but I've never heard of such a limit being pushed.

I don't think there's any limit on distance. Like Jokerine, I've used enable parents in other cells and worldspaces without issue.

Concur there is no limit. And the location of the parent doesn't matter as long is it is persistent. One thing that bit me once was running 'markfordelete' script functions on parented objects (NPC, triggers). Don't do that.

Thanks Jokerine, Ladez, rickerhk, this is the answer(s) I was looking for.

I wanted to know before I set thousands of objects to be enabled by a single parent only to discover later that there is some limit or quirk in the engine, since there are so many.

Yep I know you can't disable or markfordelete something with an enable parent, engine does not like that. :D
