I guess you could use Morrowind assets if you somehow made the mod Require ownership of Morrowind too, not just Skyrim, for example if all used assets would load from an installed Morrowind with expansions i think it would be clear then.

We've actually discussed going this route, requiring the player to have Morrowind purchased via Steam in order to play the mod. It is easily possible and will likely implement it to resolve any issues.

Protecting it with an installer to verify the user purchased the content in some form is a good rule of thumb, but I'd just keep in mind that Bethesda's policy has been pretty strict on this in the past.

I'm with everyone else in saying that you probably won't be able to use their sounds.. but then again, using some of the skyrim sounds may be more beneficial anyway (weapon noises etc). But please check though, I'd hate to miss out on a chance at playing my favorite ES game in the Skyrim Engine! :)

Imo the best way of going at it is using as much content from skyrim as possible and just remake the things that are missing, however it would be nice to use the Morrowind music for example, think this would create quite the nostalgic trip for most. Anyway trying to get ahold of Bethesda wouldnt be wrong. : >

So you are recreating Morrowind with all the original quests? Because quite frankly, without trying to put you down, I can't see you doing a better job than the original. Perhaps rebuilding Morrowind, but adding original content that is set in the same time as TES5 would be a lot more fun?

So, you don't see how there's an advantage to playing something like Morrowind in a modern game engine?

Well, okay, that's your preference, but I think you'll find quite a few of us see benefits to this.

Well no doubt it would be awesome to play Morrowind with Skyrims graphics. But I for one don't really mind Morrowind's old school feel. It's a lot of work to recreate the whole game, and I think you could probably get the same nostalgic feel when you combine old places with new quests, so that old players can enjoy new content.

But it's just a suggestion, if you already made up your mind about rebuilding the original game I wish you good luck and look forward to playing it. I would suggest you ask the Morroblivion team for some assets maybe? They already recreated a lot of content in .nif files that you could legally use in Skyrim, since they are fan made (If they give you permission).

This is a stupid solution -- Morrowind was released before Steam existed. Some people have non-Steam copies of Morrowind, Bloodmoon, and Tribunal.
