Signing up your companions?

Ok i've gotten to the point in the dragon storyline where i can sign up my companions as members of the blades. I'm not fully certain of the ramifications of this though. I've JUST gotten to this part so please try not to tell me much of the story that comes after it.

 

Can i still take them with me as companions? And if so, will they return there rather than their usual place, when i dismiss them ?

Do they fulfil any purpose by being in sky haven temple? (i dont need to know what it is)

Can i leave any companion there?

Is there any other purpose for companions (i've heard rumors of some feud with the greybeards) that doing this would exclude them from?

 

so far i've deposited lydia, as i had no use for her anyways. I've been thinking of uprooting the entire companions guild and moving them there, but would that still allow me to do their miniquests or would it break something? (i'm already harbinger). Is it even possible to move them or would they refuse ?

 

also, is it possible to hire mercenaries and enrol them there?

With being completely vague and not revealing things.

 

1. You can still have them join you.

2. They do serve a purpose that will come later (up until then nothing)

3. You can only recruit 3 people so pick carefully

4. They do return to sky haven

5. Since I didn't pick a quest NPC I can't say whether or not it will effect that. It most likely would.

 

EDIT:

 

6. Yes you can use mercenaries (one of my is the elf one from whiterun)

7. It doesn't appear that they will refuse. The one I thought might (Faendal) did not and completely forgot about Camilla.... after I helped him get rid of Sven and everything >.>
