A perfectly acceptable mod would simply be to expand on the current marriage system.

 

- Add some courting, dates, gifts, etc.

 

- Add a way to get divorced

 

- Add a wedding night and make varying levels of how to approach it. The most publically acceptable version would probably be along the lines of Fable with some *hints* or dialogue suggesting that they're having sex and then fading to black screen. Voiced dialogue would be nice, but Bethesda would have to add that, or some really good amateur actors - neither of which I see happening.

 

- Make special personalquests: spouse getting kidnapped, ransomed, finding a spouse's sibling or lost family members, etc. and have sex as a reward...or just some kind of special reason for doing it.

 

- Allowing cuddling and other affection aside from just sex (Luch did a good job at adding kissing scenes without prompting a full-blown sex scene.)

Contextual romance is the reason I adore games like Dragon Age and Mass Effect (Both Bioware... BethSoft needs to take a leaf from their book!). I genuinely burst into tears when I read about Leliana in the DA prologue after my character sacrificed himself (Look it up if you don't know/can't remember... Making me weep writing about it :pinch:). I was genuinely upset when Moriggan disappeared after DA:O with my character's unborn child (As creepy as that sounds :pinch:). I genuinely feel for Liara and Jack from Mass Effect (Neither died/disappeared... Don't you dare touch them in ME3, Bioware :mad:)

 

The reason I actually cared for the characters, irrespective of the fact that they were fantasy? Their development. It wasn't as simple as "Do nice thing, wear necklace, marriage". Each character had their own story, personality and intrigue that was usually more interesting than the main story line if not just as interesting.

 

Personally, I'd love to see (Perhaps even contribute to) a Contextual romance (Not just Contextual Sex) mod. Far superior to what Bethesda have done and far superior to what many modders will do with the CK and their ideas about sex.

 

So do it, and do it well! (I didn't want to make that pun... :ohdear: Oh well :sweat:)

GTA IV had a little bit of all that, some prostitutes, and relationships with a few women - the player had to date them a couple of times for the big thing... something like that would be a nice start.

Would also be an Idea to reward sexual acts with some temporary advance for your character, suchs as increased max. Life for the next one or two days, or better resistance against something, or increased skill points for something.. you know.

 

Also to add more realism, imagine you play an Orc, Argonian or Khajit character.. I think most of the female npcs wouldnt even think about having sex with your, so why not have the ability to force them? Such a rape should be concidered as a crime maybe...

well, with the implemantation of marriage in Skyrim, I think its a logical move to implement also sensual and sexual relations. Just think of the "Lovers Comfort" perk you can get.

 

I personally am very open-minded towards any idea of deepening NPC-Player Relations and look forward to the creativity modders will undoubtely show in this matter.

 

I have a suggestion to make - I'm not a modder, but I am an enthusiastic user of mods - why not take each Companion/marriage partner/other NPC as a single project. Example Lydia mod, add additional back story to her, create quests for her where she sends you to give her brother in the Imperial Army stationed in Solitude letters to deliver, add to her dialogue (maybe with something similar to Elyse's no voice mod for Oblivion so that at least she'll have some new conversational topics), give her the option to open a market stall in Whiterun to sell all the random crap you pick up in exchange for a profits (so that her entire life isn't just spent sitting in the house by herself). Not sure if she's on the marriage list or not. I haven't had time to check out the Temple of Mara yet; just finished the main quest, the civil war questline (that was actually an ethical decision I spent a couple of days thinking about on my Nord paladin), the Mage's Guild and the Bard's Guild questlines. (And boy am I annoyed that I can't PLAY any of the damn instruments in the game. I'M A BARD, the animations are in the game for the NPCs, the songs have been recorded, there's already the precedent of us watching our characters do the mining animation over and over and over - I'd rather watch my character sing for coins in the tavern at night or outside the window of my beloved in the evening as part of the Quest to woo her and win her heart.)

 

But seriously why not make up a list of characters (I'll start a new thread for this) to flesh out the back stories, dialogue etc options of and see who gets involved from there.

 

Oh and I should mention that The Sims franchise has almost always incorporated into gameplay (since the very first expansion pack for The Sims 1 with the introduction of The Love Bed) the option for two adult Sims of any gender configuration to WooHoo provided both parties' Needs bars had been met. Like a Sim who's really hungry and the host sim hasn't fed them for 3 or so hours and has to pee is going to say NO to contextual sex whereas if the host serves them a meal, lets them chill in the hot tub for a bit, talks to them, gets to know them better and then starts massaging them until they end up in the Love Bed for some contextual sex (with animations, noises, and tastefully done cutscenes interspliced).

I don't think the two options (contextual vs. instant) are mutually exclusive, in fact I think both would be necessary to create a realistic adult-rated environment. Each should just be put in its proper context.

 

Just walking up to a character and initiating a sex sequence would be completely meaningless, I agree with everything that has been said here. Just as the current marriage option is pointless. A great sex mod would need a lot more in terms of character development and relationship building, possibly with new quests, new dialogue, new non-sexual animations, etc. Both for marriage and any other relationships that should lead to sex. Of course each adapted to the character, with some being easier than others.

 

But other small sexual elements should probably be added to make the setting more realistic, and would also cater to "instant gratification" (in addition to being easier to design). Prostitution would be an obvious addition, as would rape (that may not be too politically correct, but in a place where violence is so omnipresent it would be really hard to avoid, and I don't think it's morally more objectionable than disembowlement and decapitation). Both could open up some interesting roleplay and combat possibilities. I also really like the idea of sometimes catching NPCs engaged in their own various acts.

Somethin ive also thought about in games, sure some games and even mods made for games give you the porn, but after 20 seconds or so of pixelated and not allways well done sex its over and your looking for a different more in depth mod.

I love the whole thought of relations past the simple sex with possible positive/negative outcomes on the relationships. I at first somewhat giggled at someones post about making "sex" a trainable skill, but with a bit of thought i started thinking this post is past just the act of "sex"

but more about romantic encounters, so why not a trainable skill that could be used beyond the close relationships, maybe call it "lovecraft".

 

Being the "hero" regardless of the role within the game you play, you would use the best possible asset within your inventory to further your quest.

So lets say there is a npc and your "speech" skill is only getting you so far, after all items in the list for conversations have been exhausted "seduce" pops up which opens up a whole new list of possible conversation items. Depending on your lovecraft skill AND speech skill it will determine how far thru this line of conversation you might make it.

If your skillS arent high enough the npc will simply blow you off and return the conversation back to the norm, but if your skills are high enough it will open up a new option for sex, once in the sex your lovecraft skill takes over as the dominate modifier determining whether or not you get the info, or items your looking to get out of the npc.

Depending on how well you perform (i wouldnt make it so lovecraft is the only input into the sex but give the player a active role, maybe numpad assignments for different actions that might improve or possibly destroy the "mood" that the npc is in,) you might or might not further you current quest.

 

Im not a "modder" really as most of what im doing is mudding while tryin to learn how to mod. Sure textures are simple although im a terrible artist i know that what input ive let fly in this post would be a huge undertaking, But when the creation kit gets dropped im gonna start workin on a Misfit Magic academy for all the magic that didnt make the cut(more silly or prankster type magic). And thinkin this would be a nice addition to possible skills i would like to add.

This all reminds me of a mod to Oblivion called Blade Song, which told a romantic story weaved into a greater adventure and a war. That particular story featured very good, albeit amateur, voice acting and had a very deep sense of meaning. If such a thing could be recreated here, I would be more then happy to try it and promote it wherever I can. Sex though, sex is the problem. Because of America's protestant root psychology, people have divided such mods into "acceptable" and "dirty". And when people go dirty, they go as dirty as they can. So it would have to be an effort on modders part to put together a radiant quest line that revolves around sex. That said, it would be nice to have an upgraded marriage system beyond "Here's a Mammoth tusk, let's get married!" A courtship quest line with different outcomes for each date that expand both your characters story while still being fun would be the best option. For example, you live in Whiterun, and you and your future wife/husband decide to go to Rorikstead for a meeting with her/his parent/brother/cousin. On your way, you stop at honneybrew meadery for a gift when some bandits snatch your wife from you. Then you would have to go after her, rescue her and return home safely. Another time you might be heading to dragonsbridge, and it goes fine on the journey there, but when your there a deadra decides to capture you wife and you have to find her through the portal she was taken from. The rewards would probably be either sex or maybe another step in a relationship. These steps could be scripted ie. first date she'll kiss you on her way home, second date she'll invite you for dinner, third date sex, fourth date she invites you to live with her or she'll live with you, and so on and so forth. Sex should be implied, you go to bed she says something like in fable or Witcher, screen blacks out, you get an active ability after the fact (lovers embrace). Maybe there's a few lovers who have prescripted quest lines, like Aela the Huntress having to do with the companions guild. Or The Breton lady you help from the dark brotherhood. Also you should get more and more access to the Npc as the quests continue, like first they'll follow you, then they'll let you manage their inventory. Also, all spouses should be followers. I'm not sure about "seduction" that I'd leave to the modders.

I hope that a tasteful relationship mod will be made. This title defiantly deserves it.

TBH I wouldn't mind this. Simply because I usually play an assassin based character and what better way to catch my prey than to seduce them? Or Vampires needing to feed. Fable also didn't do to bad with "sex" by blacking out the screen, having some comedic dialogue and being done. I was a little disappointed to find out that I could get married in Skyrim but thats as far as it goes.... If I marry an NPC in a game for role playing as my barbarian, assassin, or master thief I would expect to be able to have fake kids with them similar to fable....

I'm gonna agree with Saiyk on the topic of children.

 

'Twas a bummer that I have my first character get married and find out that not only is there no sex (neither explicit or the 'ol black-screen-and-sexy-noises), but you couldn't have children.

 

#16 on my mod wish list is something to remedy the no children situation with the addition to allow your kids to adventure with you should they stay alive for a set amount of time (so they can "grow up").
