byron182
Hi guys. I stopped playing games couple of years ago but when FO4 I want to play it so bad. I'm building a new rig and I want to be able to play FO4 with mods(retextures, HD Landscapes, environment, etc.. ) at high settings with 60fps. Budget wise? Best bang for my buck. This is what I plan to buy i3 6100 3.7GHzPalit GTX 950 2048MB 128bit DDR5 StormX Dual8 gigs ram Is this doable? any of you have the same setup? Optiostar
I'd maybe wait a bit and see if they release a gtx 1050 or spend a little more and get the 1060 that should future proof your rig a little more as the 950 is a new card but it is the last of a old generation. Plus a 2 gig card and re-textures don't really go together very well unless you are using near stock texture sizes/resolutions and then what's the point? dragonslayer2k12
Yeah my card is 3GB amd HD7950 and the game gets kinda slow with many mods installed. Might as well wait a bit to see what comes out because it almost instantly lowers the price of existing cards when something new comes out. Why would you buy and i3 processor? Get an i5 at least it is much better. Watch out for lower end versions too even some i5 are slow for lower end versions.
TheGadget1945
I am running a rig with a Titan X GPU and Logitech ARX software reports that FO4 is using 99% of the GPU. I think an i3 CPU is a little low for a demanding game like FO4.
EvilGeoff
CAN the set up you are describing run the game? Probably. Will it run the game well? Probably better than mine does, but that doesn't mean it will be silky smooth. If you want high res textures at a decent frame rate, don't even think of an i3 chip, or a video card with less than 4GB of VRAM. Seriously.I posted my system specs elsewhere: I have a i7-2600, 3.4GHz, CPU, 12 GB RAM and a lowly AMD Radeon 6770 GPU w/ 1GB DDR5 onboard. Per the FO4 minimum system requirements, I shouldn't even be able to play the game at all. I guess the computer is using that 4 extra gig of RAM as VRAM through a swap file or something. The only time I get 60 fps is during load screens or the intro once everything else is loaded. Typical FO4 game play frame rates are in the 23 - 28 fps range. My system actually plays the game fairly smoothly at those rates, but I'm so used to playing with under 30 frame rates because of my video card that I don't notice it getting laggy until I'm under 14 - 15 fps.I'm working on getting an upgraded video card soon. An R9 290 or GTX 970 (either one will have 4GB on board) if I can swing it. I can swing around $200, maybe $250 for a video card (I bargain hunt like a mofo!), but I just can't justify the hit on my budget for a high end card right now. But with my base system that should be enough to kick my frame rates way up. Edited July 27, 2016 by EvilGeoff
byron182
Will a GTX 960 4Gb be enough? or a 380 4G. BTW. I bought an i5 instead. Edited July 29, 2016 by byron182
