Kairo29
Coming across a funeral procession would be REALLY cool and immersive. It's a dark time, death is common, we need to see that more. Crying NPCs could be added to processions or burial sites. Making comments about how cruel the world is or how angry they are. It also adds to the whole seeing NPCs living and reacting to changes in the world caused by you or otherwise. For no-named no affiliation having NPCs like bandits that die close to towns, seeing guards digging mass graves and tossing bodies in (and them disappearing) would be really immersive. Rotting corpses everywhere spreads disease, they gotta be proactive! Or seeing guards piling vampire or creature corpses and setting them aflame with torches would be interesting. The bodies then undergo the charring effect i talked about and disappear after a day or 2. So much depth could be added with ideas like this, I think. Kairo29
Just now a dragon attacked outside of Riften. We killed it. Soon after I was passing by the farm nearby where the Dunmer couple lived. Two guards were bent over, so I was curious and dismounted to check it out. I found them kneeling over the dunmer wife's body. She was dead, and I was like "Oh man I can't just leave her here." so I dragged her into the deep part of the lake and leave her. When I come back up, I see the dunmer husband running into the water and swims down to her. I was thinking oh man this fool is going to drown! The current eventually brings the female dunmer back to shore and the male dunmer just stands there next to her, the NPC's head pointed down looking at her. IT WAS SO SAD. This is another example of a time a good ol shovel and grave dig would have come in handy for me. Ugh. I wanted to resurrect her so bad...but I try not to do that. Even to NPCs I don't want to see die lol. And its interesting because right before I dragged her out to the water I was thinking to myself how I wish the NPC had dialogue options that showed he knew his wife was dead. No dialogue...but strange enough there was behavior that could be interpreted as sadness and loss.

This can't be happening!" and they run off and are fine awhile later. Maybe soon I'll see it. Not that I want to see someone feeling sad but because of the immersion factor. And since the AI is that spohisticated I think it'd be even more appropriate to be able to bury the dead and not just let the skeever get to it. Which I assume could be a lore-friendly reason for the bodies dissappearing eventually. Especially out in the wilderness. I'm guessing this will have to wait until the creation kit gets here. arcatastrange
....when I see corpses laying around...sometimes I really want to get rid of them. Me too. It bothers me that nobody ever deals with dead bodies lying around the streets. I don't personally want to be digging graves but since some places in Skyrim have a Hall of the Dead, I think the NPCs that work there could act as undertakers and come and collect the corpses of named NPCs. Guards and other no-name NPCs should just vanish after a day or so, to give the player time to loot the bodies. You could have funerals inside temples maybe with the family of the deceased showing up, but just someone moving dead bodies would be good enough for me. A graveyard could be added to the map at some point and maybe have a couple of guys using a horse and cart to transport the bodies. Rich NPCs could have fancy stone tombstones, while the poorer NPCs, get wooden ones, with the cause of death added, as someone said. I suppose it's a morbid idea for a mod, but it will add a little bit of depth and activity for the NPCs. would be a good way to finish quests that needed dialog from certain npc's via headstone or wooden cross as for the giant could it be possible to remove them upon death and leave the giants club to loot the corpse

Yeah it was really interesting. The only time I've seen anything like it though...I need to go back and see if her body disappeared yet or something. But yes, seriously, waiting for the skeevers to get to corpses of the innocent or the good is pretty sad lol. I'm excited the CK is coming in January, I just hope it has TONS of options and is fairly user-friendly. I want to learn how to mod these types of things. @Arcata, Having dialogue options change when an NPCs lover, companion, family member, or friend dies and a tombstone is generated after you or another NPC dig a grave and bury the dead would be amazing. Would bump up the immersion factor so much, and give the effect of AI recognition of you killing someone with attachments or failing to save them. gunnyfreak
afaik npc's have limited "mourning" dialogues: on one of my playthroughs a dragon attacked riverwood and sigrid (the smith's wife) died in the attack he wouldn't deal with me for at least the whole day (no dialogue menu comes up and he just says "let me stew alone") even his daughter only says she doesn't want to talk about it about a week later I went back to visit and he was ok
Kairo29
I think it can be better! I'm seriously wondering how the CK will work with flagging NPCs and tying dialogue options to certain events. I'd want to try to add better "mourning" in the form of changed dialogue options once specific NPCs are killed or disappear.
Kairo29
Another idea: After you bury your first companion/follower, a quest titled "Fallen Comrades" or something should trigger, which basically marks the location of the grave you dug and tells you whose grave it is when you hover over the marker with the cursor in map view. This would be cool to just see where you laid your friends to rest, but also could be used as a way to retrieve equipment you couldn't loot off of your follower at the time they died. I've heard that some residents of certain major towns get put into the hall of the dead where you can visit their grave and retrieve everything they had on them or something but I haven't seen it happen in my game yet. When revisiting a follower's grave, you could interact with the grave spot and it reacts like opening a barrel, where you can see the items the follower had on them and you can pick them up to do what you want with them. Would be also cool if random events spawned on gravesites where if you visited a followers grave, you might stumble upon grave robbers or bandits trying to dig up the grave. (They never actually get to the contents of the grave, though, you just catch them in the act or in the middle of the digging animation). Then you can deal with them as you see fit and dig another mass grave nearby for them to give your follower some company :D haha.
OMVOI
This is needs some attention! I often travel with a fairly large army of mercenaries and having to just leave their corpses strewn amongst the monsters is disheartening, even more so when its a named NPC that dies. Id even like to give the occasional spry bandit some dignity in death. Id be content with simply an option to burn the body or have the corpse replaced with a (possibly named?) headstone or rockpile.
