Bereskarn
Cutting wood and mining ores right now is very boring. You get your tool, you go to the object, you press the button... and you do nothing but watch your character perform the action for a while. These actions need player input in order to make them more interesting. I was thinking for woodcutting there could be a minigame like one of those "door-opening" sections in Dead Island. Basically how it would work is, there would be an arrow that moves quickly back and forth along a bar, and the player must click when the arrow is closest to the center. The character will swing harder and take less time to chop the wood the closer to the center you hit it. Mining could use the same system, but if anyone has any ideas let me know. suratek
That is an interesting idea, but I'm sure that would be a mod made in the mid to later stages of modding. For now I think a simpler solution to the boring-ness of mining or woodcutting by either skipping the animation or speeding it up, but I wonder can any of this be done without the construction kit? Riffzor
I agree, both woodcutting and mining is rather dull at present, but I think it would feel unrealistic if one were to simply speed it up or skip it completely. Woodcutting feels quite redundant in general, seeing as it's just a slow gold-making progress with little benefit compared to what one would earn in the same time hunting down bandits (unless there's some other mod making use of it I've missed?)The suggestion with the arrow going up and down a bar sounds like it's at least more interractive than simply staring at your character whilst rolling your thumbs. Not sure how difficult it would be to make, though.
