GreekIrish
I thought it was a huge improvement over the warrior themed faction and it's quests in Oblivion, but I was still a little disappointed by it. I thought it was pretty short and other than the funeral, there weren't too many standout moments. Then there's the fact that turning into a Werewolf is pretty useless, especially if you play on higher difficulties. It's screwed me over more times that it's actually helped me. The Silver Hand just seemed like a group of bandits with a fancy title, so there was no strong antagonist, just some witches in a cave and a wolf spirit boss battle that was extremely boring. Now I'm the leader of the companions. The only interesting character was Aela. I will admit that she is really awesome. She just needs to change her face paint. blankstate
Yeah, Aela's face paint is ... Just bizarre. I also found the Companion questlines to be kinda 'Wha?' Not enough time spent with the members, I really didn't give a damn about any of them except Aela because she was the only one who didn't seem perfectly content to just chill in Jorvasskr all day and do absolutely nothing. I must admit, I was incredibly touched when I read Kodlak's diary though. That's definitely one of my most memorable moments in Skyrim.
WarKirby3333
i think the com[panions quests have a really good storyline. The stuff you watch, the stuff you read, the stuff you hear about, the people in jorrvaskr. i found it very fun and immersive. but the stuff you actually do? just boring. The silver hand are a pretty weak antagonist. they never speak, or communicate in any form really. they never pose much of challenge. they don't have any unique appearance or voice lines (other than their swords) and in general they just have no depth. Roxian
I like the whole concept & history of The Companions tho, and the characters in it, a lot. The last quest was pretty epic too. Anyway, agreed, the Silver Hand could've used a bit more work, to make them more evil, maybe a bit more history behind them. A dialogue with one of their leaders before you kill them could've been great, or maybe a combat line or what not. At least those evil witches said "I belonged to Hircine now" when I came to slaughter 'em all. I agree, they just seemed like fancy bandits to me, that's all. :/
mgbeach
Agreed on those points (especially on reading the diary being a memorable moment when I got something in my eye). It is a little weird that once you're the leader of the Companions some people address you as such and others still talk to you like you're a noob. Also, can anyone confirm or deny that Kodlak's old room is considered "Home" as far as being a safe place to store items or whatever? I noticed the bed isn't owned and item text isn't red anymore.
