Doom 3 Original vs Doom 3 BFG Edition - Reasons why you should just buy both

I've always been annoyed by the dozens of people always complaining about the bfg edition. It's pointless to try to complain about something that cannot be fixed and is CLEARLY not broken. It's just the same game with a few convenience tweaks made by the developers. The flashlight is now mounted on the pc's shoulder for those who hated the fact that you can't see well in the darker areas of the game e.g. alpha labs sector 2 with the "Guide the scientist through the dark hallways" event. Some think that the bfg edition is not modifiable. Those people would be wrong... The BFG edition contains a map list when you click on new game. They said the old doom 3 mods won't work with the bfg editon. They did NOT say it was not moddable ... that's why they released the source code. If anyone has any comments or things to say please post below... I'd love to hear some opinions and thoughts on the subject.

On subject, it's pretty much beating a dead horse at this rate, game is pretty old and not so good in truth. It wasn't true DOOM game, I haven't played 4th yet, but from the looks it's more true and more what DOOM is all about: brutal-bloody-oldschool-demon-shooter with some modern gimmicks (singleplayer only though). When I was playing DOOM3 it felt like playing some Resident Evil ripoff on Mars and from first person perspective...

 

Considering modding, it's very huge pain in the arse, both in original and BFG which, in fact, was just a silly attempt to sell old game (without any issues or need for improvement) again to make $$$. Same as modern trend to make "remakes/definitive/improved editions" for games just few years old with... well, no changes at all, at least not the type you could really notice without microscope. So, when BFG hit, everyone without strong nostalgia urge to play this pretty much boring RE ripoff, but now with flashlight on the shoulder, didn't even bother checking what it is. Fuss was generally about the fact, that with user mods DOOM 3 looked way better than BFG, and I can confirm it. No idea what's the situation now though, maybe some mods got ported, but it's still a shame.
