Wearable ponytail

So here is s scaled version for a full sized ponty tail. I didn't realize you had edited your post (as nexus doesn't send me a new email for a edit, only a new post), so I didn't see your pic. Did you want it smaller as in the graphic above, or full sized as in the one below? Pic;

I'm currently trying to get it weighted and some vertex groups assigned. for some reason the boneweight copy script isn't assigning a weight from the human head, but I'v run into that before and can work around it.

Damn ... nice idea ... but you know what style I'd like to see ... is the barbarian from EQ2 with pony tail.

Err maybe most all chars had it ?

Soory don't mean to step on copywrite toes ... but ... it wouldn't hurt just to post a pic would it ?

Did anything ever become of this?

Shoot I don't know, it was over a year ago. Trying to get back into modding, but just haven't had the time

Naw it's not a big deal to link to a pic, copyright is more about using the actual assets from another game, we can do homages or co opt styles, ideas etc.

actually that pony tail won't work ... needs its own animation.

Not sure what your talking about, all the vanilla hair is simply rigged. As far as needing it's own animation no vanilla hair style is an animated nif or uses a special dedicated bone etc. Look at the nifs.

No worries. Been away for a while myself. Should you feel the urge to finish/continue working on it, I'm still very much interested. If you do choose to continue working on this, these might be of interest or assistance.....

A Girl with a Dragon Tattoo: http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/37801/?

-apparently it contains a ponytail hairstyle ported from Oblivion to FONV. I haven't tried it yet to see how well it works/looks.

Corean mod: http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/15568/?

-the original ponytail hairstyle from Oblivion that the above mod ported to FONV.

I think he's referring to the EQ2 barbarian pony tail which is somewhat longer. It probably would require a bone (or several) and animation in order to look right. I wouldn't be surprised if that were the very reason that we HAVEN'T seen ponytails in NV.

It is a braided pony tail that goes about half way down the back ... can't find any pics that would show it well enough.

It would take a video I guess. Because it wriggles like a snake with movement. Hence ya , it wouldn't work , and no point really to just have a straight one hanging down the back that doesn't move.

Yes it does work, it's the same method the pigtails have, and all hair styles in FONV. It's bizarre you claim it doesn't, which is simply factually incorrect and just decreases the signal to noise ratio in the thread.

It's also odd that you'd claim there was no point in having one if it's not animated........in someone else's request, that obviously wants one. The fact that it's not what *you* want doesn't invalidate Skyoholic's request.

So yeah it works, regardless of whether it's what *you* specifically want. Some puzzling cognition going on there partner, but no one is stopping you from requesting a animated version and I'll give some pointers below.

You would need a new skeleton with some bones devoted to a vertex group for the ponytail, in addition you would need new animations of all the current animations (that you want the ponytail to move in, with those new bones). And that means someone spending some time in blender (or their preferred program of choice).

Alternately a animated nif could be used with a playgroup script, but that won't sync well to movement like the method mentioned above. It's much easier in some respects though, since you wouldn't have to have a new skeleton or animations.

Other members may have additional ideas.
