CarsoTheMillman
I haven't played Fallout 4 since the last update, 1.6.9. The other day I updated it and fired it up through the Fallout 4 Script Extender and the black console screen that usually only appears for a brief second stayed up, and the game didn't launch. I noticed that when I did that, even though the game didn't visible launch (only the black console window), "Fallout 4.exe" was running in task manager. I thought I updated it correctly. I deleted the three F4SE files I already had in my Fallout 4 folder and put in the three updated ones. I tried with mods, I tried with all of them disabled. I tried launching it through steam, through NMM, and through the .exe directly. What could I be doing wrong?
Royhr
So the game doesn't launch when not using F4SE? Then it's unlikely an issue with F4SE. If you haven't already then try verifying the game cache to make sure something isn't missing.
CarsoTheMillman
No, the base game works fine. Launching the F4SELauncher.exe or whatever loads the black console screen and stays there.
Royhr
Oh ok.... Then I guess it is something related to F4SE. So you definitely did put the 2 DLLs and the EXE into your main FO4 directory where the FO4.exe is located correct? Just asking to be absolutely sure. If so then I have no idea as to why you are having an issue. Hopefully someone else will have a solution for you.
bill8872
When I update F4SE I copy everything from the F4SE folder into the game folder, and let it overwrite everything. There is only one file I delete, I am at work so I don't know the exact name of it, but it is named for the F4SE version I think, and the only file that does not get overwritten.I also place the F4SE folder into the game folder. I am not sure if that is necessary, but it does help me keep track of the version I have.Sometimes I delete the shortcut for F4SE, and replace it with the new one, just in case there might be an issue.
