He wants to NOT start again but just to change how he looks

NorthernMonkey Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Regardless, is there some way to do this? I would find it useful, as I often find myself starting over because I'm not happy with my character. Seems like there would be a way to do this through the console or something.

I love how you're taking just the one line from the post so as to take it out of context. He specifically mentions that he's halfway through the game but wants to change his look. Him not wanting to start from the beginning follows after that.
Enjoji101 Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 I think there might be a way to do it from the in-game console - if you bring it up and type in Showracemenu, you might be able to change your looks in there..I haven't tried it myself, but apparently if you change Race completely your stats get reset - but major perks stay the same.. I found the info here - http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/457510-list-of-useful-console-commands/ - which has more console commands that may be of use in future :)
XunAmarox Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 (edited) showracemenu via console works. Documents\My Games\Skyrim\Skyrim.ini ADD:bAllowConsole=1 SAVE. In-game use ` (tilde, next to 123, tab, Esc) to bring up the console. Type "showracemenu" without the quotes and hit enter. Edited November 23, 2011 by XunAmarox

As long as you don't actually change your character's race, your stats won't be messed up or anything. I tried this with my Argonian because I decided I wanted to tweak her appearance a bit :3
