InsanityRabbit
Okay so here's the thing:When I open Skyrim, I get the skyrim launcher, the way it's supposed to. Only when I press play, nothing seems to happen, until I open task manager, where I see that the game is running, it's just nowhere to be found... (to clarify nothing happens on my screen, not even in the toolbar, I can only see Skyrim running through task manager) What seems to happen, is that NMM deletes a Skyrim file. Steam -> Steam Library -> Right-click Skyrim -> Properties -> local files -> Verify Integrity of Game Cache, tells me that "one file is missing and will be reaquired. Then Steam downloads the missing file, after which it gets deleted again and I still can't play. Why am I posting this in the Skyrim mod forum, instead of the skyrim troubleshooting forum? Because this started happening when I started using NMM. Also, earlier I had a simular problem with Mod Organizer, that one deleted the file for the main menu (continue, load game, new game, etc.) next to the logo of the empire. That was actually the reason for switching to NMM. Now I'm quite certain I have installed NMM properly. At least, I followed Gophers instruction video on youtube, so that should be correct. And last but not least, I've seen on these forums that someone had a simular problem (except their skyrim launcher wouldn't start and mine does), but the fix given there, didn't work for me (they suggested the "verify integrity of game cache") If anyone knows anything, pleasepleaseplease help, I have been meaning to play skyrim for nearly a month now... DoctorKaizeld
That one file being missing is normal and is not the problem. Can you share your load order and usual steps to adding mod?
InsanityRabbit
I did combine steam mods with nexus mods (simply because I used steam mods before), so first I subscribed to the steam mods and then I downloaded the nexus mods simply by clicking "Download (NMM)", the file downloads and in NMM I click on "Install/enable this mod". After that I let LOOT sort it out for me This is my load order (sorry that I do it this way, I don't know how to use spoilers and I can't seem to get the screenshot uploaded)1. Skyrim2. Update3. InsanityRabbit
Okay, so since my pc was f*#@ing around lately (including the skyrim problem) I tried resetting my PC back to it's factory settings, didn't help. Also, obviously, tried playing without mods, didn't work either...
JessicaKavanagh
it's something to do with the plugins text file in appdata\local\Skyrim Special Editionif you delete it yo ucan launch the game but modifying anything in the mod section of the game (ie. downloading from bethesda reenabling all eps/ems) will cause the game to go back into that background process mod and get stuck in a limbo style load
UndeadPhantom77
I had the exact same problem, through trial and error i discovered that the "Left hand rings" mod caused it. well for me anyway. all i did was delete it and then problem fixed. crackstar1996
Sorry to perform Necromancy, but this happens to me everytime i get back into skyrim as well as modding it. IT IS VERY CRUCIAL TO START THE GAME AFTER INSTALLATION OF EACH MOD. Even I am guilty of being impatient and mass installing 20 mods at once, but its exactly where this issue stems from.
