madmongo
Depending on what the mod is, it can either be difficult or impossible. If you are porting over weapons, clothing/armor, stuff like that, the animations and armatures (nif skeletons) aren't the same. You'll need to import the objects into a 3-d modeling program and re-rig them for FNV. If the clothing or armor has visible body parts, you'll need to replace those with their FNV body type equivalents, whch will also likely involve editing the clothing/armor mesh to fit properly. The mod structure between FNV and FO4 is completely different, so you can't just tweak an FO4 mod and make it load in the FNV GECK. If the mod depends on any FO4 resources, you'll have to recreate those resources from scratch or port them over yourself as well. Any ported resources from the FO4 game or its DLC cannot be legally used in FNV mods for copyright reasons. If you use them for your own use nobody cares, but you wouldnt' be able to post such a mod here on the Nexus or anywhere else for that matter. Companion mods, forget it. The best you can do is create a FNV companion with the same general appearance. You'd have to completely re-write all of the companion scripts and dialogs. And again, if you use FO4 voice samples, you run into copyright issues. There are probably some types of tweaks that you can do in FNV that wouldn't be too difficult, like making a perk function similarly to an FO4 mod's perk or something like that. You'd be completely re-writing it so that it works the same and wouldn't just be porting it trhrough some conversion process though. Is there something specific you had in mind? madmongo
That's a piece of clothing/armor so it's basically what I said before. You need to import it into a 3-d modeling program, re-rig it to a FNV body type, then export it to an FNV style nif. There are human body parts visible (lower forearms and maybe some of the neck) so those would have to be removed and replaced with the appropriate parts from the FNV body type of your choice. I have experience with custom armors and rigging/modeling, but I haven't tried to do anything with FO4 yet. When I checked the last time (which was a very long time ago) the nif tools for importing and exporting werent' working very well. I am assuming since folks are making custom armors at this point that they are working better now. I only use Blender so I'm not familiar with 3ds max. In Blender, this is a fair amount of work mostly because the auto-rigging doesn't work very well in Blender and you usually have to go in and manually adjust the bone weights to get it to work properly. It's not hugely difficult, it's just a lot of busywork. The permissions on that file don't allow it to be ported to FNV, so even if I was more familiar with FO4 meshes I couldn't port it for you, and if you do it for yourself then it would only be for personal use. You wouldn't be able to release it publicly.
NITROX885
ik this is an old post but there's this armor mod in Fo4 that ive been wanting to get in FNV considering there isnt really any really good cowboy or bounty hunter outfit mods and i just think this one would be perfect in FNV instead and was just wondering if you could help me with it https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/32214?tab=files
madmongo
That mod's permissions don't allow it. Unless you can get permission from the mod author, no one here can do that for you.
