wickedinsane
Since Fallout 3 I have encountered so many mods on nexus no one really ever needs; I would much appreciate a kind of instance filtering useless mods such as:www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1186www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1166www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1153 Maybe an serverside option to delete mods which do not reach certain download figures or page visits would also work. A dislike button would also make sense to show the authors their mods are simply unwanted! Please help nexus to remain a serious place when it comes to modding. Keirgarth
Even if a mod isn't that great, it can be used by others as a resource or education so taking them off or deleting them if they don't reach a specific number of downloads is not really desirable. Above every list of mods there is a sort feature that you can choose to sort by downloads, endorsements etc which would give you the list with the most downloads or endorsements first. You might consider using that option when looking for mods :)
ginnyfizz
What the OP suggests sounds like a recipe for a trollfest. Let's not turn Nexus into SomethingAwful.com.
Deleted1744345User
Since Fallout 3 I have encountered so many mods on nexus no one really ever needs; I would much appreciate a kind of instance filtering useless mods such as:www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1186www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1166www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1153You know, Skyrim just came out, so any mods that were put up there still need time to get some notoriety. Also, how would you like it if someone deleted a mod that you put your time and effort into making? I think less people would contribute out of fear of this.A dislike button would also make sense to show the authors their mods are simply unwanted! We would be returning to the thumbs-up, thumbs-down endorsement system that was removed because of heavy opposition. It was a system that was abused by trolls and so the site is never returning to it again. Also, saying to mod authors that their mods are simply unwanted could be considered trolling. Please help nexus to remain a serious place when it comes to modding. How is this site not serious about modding? DrakeTheDragon
Now that's some borderline-trolling here. One word like these in any of those listed mods' comments would've been the way out the door already. Making a public listing of "useless mods" with links isn't much different in my eyes. Nice loophole around the no-strike zone to avoid the banhammer. A serverside option not allowing hosting of mods not reaching a certain download count or endorsements? There are rules and regulations around here what is allowed to be hosted or not, sure, but I've yet to see such "discrimination" happen to mods.Only 1 single user satisfied makes well worth the effort already (and he doesn't even need to come back and endorse!). There is no such thing as a "useless" mod. This is far too subjective a judgement to ever have any real meaning. Even if it's only 1 single person finding some use in the mod, it was well worth being there. No mods are "simply unwanted". On the contrary though, the "dislike" button was voted away by the majority of site users only a while ago, speaking of things "unwanted". Modding itself isn't "serious". You get nothing in return, so all you're doing it for is the fun and enjoyment creating it. Edited November 23, 2011 by DrakeTheDragon
Shantih
There used to be a thumbs down option and frankly it's better the way it is now because some people clearly have no compulsion about neg repping a mod without leaving a comment or giving any feedback. Some have no problem neg repping a mod because they can't get it to work notwithstanding the fact that the mod author has provided all the required information. I understand that some mods are a bit on the goofy side. I don't really care for these mods either but that's beside the point. There are filters and tags so if you use the search button you can find what you're looking for. Some mod may look like rubbish to some people and considered to be awesome by other users. Last but not least, regarding downloads/endorsements and views, some mods get attention and some don't. There are some real gems with only very few endorsements and downloads so it's not that clear cut.
Lisnpuppy
Don't like it..do not think it has value...pass it by...not like its cluttering up YOUR PERSONAL HARD DRIVE. Really? Would it be OK if we got rid of useless posters too? Oh wait..we can.
Beriallord
Useless mods? What one person sees useless another mind find useful. Why do you even care, the "useless" mods aren't on your HDD are they? As long as they aren't criminally perverse, like child nudity I couldn't care less. No, just don't download the files you find so offensive. A dislike button would also make sense to show the authors their mods are simply unwanted! The site had a 'dislike' button - it was removed due to the amount of abuse and nonsense negative ratings people gave files that did not warrant such votes. Please help nexus to remain a serious place when it comes to modding. Lighten up, little comedy and silliness doesn't hurt. If you're so incensed by those files, bypass them in the lists, don't look at the file pages in detail and ignore anyone requesting anything of the like...
