Faint purple rings in the sky

I've noticed a weird graphical glitch in my game. Purple rings that descend from the 'top' of the sky down to the horizon.

I've tried dropping all my equipment but that didn't clear it up.

I've tried disabling mods in NMM but it didn't clear up.

Is this a bug or something that's supposed to be there (like a plot element)?

I've changed locations and the effect appears to move with the PC.

Has anyone seen this before? Sorry, It's kind of faint in the screenies.

I know what you're talking about. They go upwards into a point in the sky for me though, iirc. Backwards :P I'm pretty sure it was there before I started messing with things.

I noticed this at dusk, could you be referring to dawn by any chance? Purple can mean missing texture, so maybe some sort of overlay used to shade/lighten the sky isn't acting right.

  • 7 months later...

I have occasionally noticed this to. My card is NVidia 9800GT, 512MB. I just figured it was a byproduct of a) my crappy card or b) all of the tweaks I have made to make the game run well enough for me with a crappy card.

I have the latest driver update...I know I noticed the effect with the 290 drivers...I've bee noticing it for months, but now I can't recall if I've seen after the latest update. It only happens occasionally for me, I thin the light has to be just right and I have to be facing the correct direction, etc.

I thought that it might be related to some of the shadow tweaks I have (like the shadowbiasscale), but I have never tested it.

I did notice that the OP has Enhanced Night, which I also have...could be related or just a coincidence. I too notice the effect around dusk.

No solutions, just maybe a little more info that might help someone.

Sorry to necro an old thread but I have the same problem. Has a solution for this been found? It really brakes my immersion. Whether I run with or without mods doesn't make a difference ( I use Mod Organizer with different profiles so I am 100% sure I can run in vanilla environment when needed for testing)

Or is there any mod that alters the night sky texture in such a way that those lines are removed? I have tried Enhanced Night Sky, HQ Milky Way Galaxy and Shooting Stars but none of them get rids of the problem.
