Skyrim Armor Appearance

Hello

I like many others absolutely adore the Nightingale armor. I also had better armor before I even found out they existed. This continues to be a problem. I was wondering if it would be possible for someone to make a mod that allowed you to swap out the stats of a piece of armor with the appearance of another.

this would change the armor globally though right? So then if I wanted my nightingale armor to have the stats of glass armor I would encounter random baddies with an odd nightingale hood. I dont know about you but I also prefer to keep what I can in game as opposed to editing files for every move. Not just for convenience but because it lends believability and immersion to my character. But in order to have the appearance of armor be editable it would require an entirely revamped smithing menu or, more likely, an entirely new apparratus correct? And would one need to create an item for every combination of stats and appearances or could a clever modder have it created dynamically?

Ok, what you want is more complicated than what I understood, sorry.

So you want to be able to craft an armor with the stats of an other armor for yourself. I didn't see the CK yet (of course, it's not out), but based of oblivion TESCS, it will be tedious. If it is like Oblivion, what you're asking would require creating one object for every possible combination in the CK, plus modifying smithing. It is impossible to create them dynamically, as the game can only use a complete object, with its stats, its appareance, etc... it can't create them on the fly.

Open CK, load Skyrim.esm, in object window check *ALL or ARMOR (if you are only looking for armor), in the search field enter the armor you are looking for - like DAEDRIC, several armor forms will come up (cuirass, boots, gloves...). Open each form and edit the values (weight, armor rating, enchantment...). If you want the same enchantments like Nightingale you can enter it in the seach box, open an armor piece, look up the enchantment and enter the same in the Daedric armor enchantment field. Save it as a plugin, done.
