It depends on which 9800 you purchase...the 128 mb or 256 mb version. the 256 goes for about 500, the other varies from 200-400.

theres a place called Computerworld here in australia (melbourne and sydney) and the price difference for a 128ddr radeon 9800pro and a 256ddr radeon pro is only $40 australain dollars, which isnt much, i was going to get a non-ultra MSI geforce 5200, so i decided to get an ultra for an extra $25.

and as everyone knows

ignore the xabre/SiS cards, the worlds worst drivers, and the worlds worst video cards are made by SiS.

tomorrow, im gettin my 5200ultra, and ive seen it on morrowind, a friends computer who is in the same situation as me, except he has a Athlon 2800, and 2gig RD ram, if you want to know how much he spend on the ram, ill tell you...$1200 au....isnt that alot for a stupidly fast loading time, anyoway, morrowind lags a little with the draw distance all the way up, pretty good for a fx5200 though.

ive dont my homework, and im going with a Radeon9000, for a stupidly cheap price, at great performance.

heres why

the radeon 9200 was like a toned down version to the 9000, which is why its Pixel Shader is better, and its Vertex is slightly more advanced than the 9200, it has 4 pixel pipelines, meaning, it can process textures (data if you will) at different ways, 8 forward per each pipe, or 16 the other way around, now, it only has one pipeline for the vertex shader, but ti lives up to its expectations, in fact, this video card, can beat a GEFORCETI4600 at a PIXEL SHADER TEST, believe me, ive done my homework, and now if youll excuse me, in one hour im gettin a radeon 9000 128mb ddr, how good is that for $145 :D

uhhh... i dunno... Mine (like i said) is the Radeon 9600, but it's 256 MB, it also has the pixel shader, but it has 8 pipelines (i believe) i got mine for $130...

yes, but mine is in australian money, not american, so the price differance is quite different.

and because of my Processor, morrowind still lags, just not as much...

the 9600 are the cheapest and best ones to get though, performance wise, you can play quake 3 at 250fps
