Aeoshattr
Right.Call me a noob, call me an idiot, call me whatever you want to.I know there was a topic on this, but it's been closed. I would've posted there, but since I can't...Just please help me out with this. I've got windows XP, SP3. I'm starting to feel like a fossil already.I obviously have that stupid problem, with Skyrim crashing right after the Bethesda Logo. I already tried running it (that TESV.exe or whatever it was called) in compatibility mode (with windows 95), but it's not working, the game still crashes.Any other suggestions? Thanks. maboru
Start with this - http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/1256595-consolidated-potential-fix-thread-co-authordesi/ and see if any of these help.
Aeoshattr
Thanks, but the solution that they give there is for Windows 7.Any other suggestions?
maboru
It's not Win 7 exclusive it's mostly just .ini tweaks, you simply have to go to the WinXP control panel/sound a bit differently than with Win 7. Try the first fix for downgrading your sound. That has fixed your problem for many people.
Aeoshattr
There is no option to downgrade the sound quality in Windows XP. I already tried that, there is just no way to do it from control panel. Or at least I can't seem to find it, or find any step-by-step guide
maboru
Well it has been quite a while since I've been on an XP machine but check this out - http://www.benchmarkmedia.com/wiki/index.php/Windows_XP_Audio_Playback_-_Setup_Guide - although it looks like XP only goes up to 96khz and 24 bit anyway so this may not help. You should next try to lower your video settings to medium or low and see if that gets you into the game.
LickAndStick
All indications of the D3D9 thread issue also seen in Fallout New Vegas. Infamous enough almost for a sticky. Fast single cores can run these games fine, the devs just neglect them. (and OP, a lot of serious admins stick with XP - as fine an OS as MS has produced, efficient with resources... victim of planned obsolescence.. :P ) Anyway, ENBSeries handily fixes this limitation and will offer enhancements:http://enbdev.com/index_en.htmlBoris is da man! Extract into the main game directory, won't replace anything. The launcher will re-detect your video. Can later move or rename d3d9.dll to disable. Aeoshattr
Tried both. None works. My video settings were already on minimum, and I doubt that the second thingie could've helped anyway. I've got a 2.4 quad. :|

Not sure if you tried ENBSeries, but it only takes a minute, it's not just for single core... It might fix it straight away, and there are a number of settings in enbpatch.ini [GAME]SpeedHack=false [FIX]ForceSingleCoreCPU=falseIgnoreThreadManagement=trueIgnoreThreadPriority=trueFixGraphics=trueUseDeviceInSafeMode=trueDeviceId=00000122VendorId=000060de fixgraphics, safe modedevice+vendor ids should work as is but you can claim to be any card. yours are found in device manager driver details Hopefully you can find something!
