Three Game-Braking Bugs - Will / can they be patched?

Greetings all!

 

I am posting today to see if the three major bugs I am facing are going to be addressed in the upcoming patch(es) and if there is anyone else out there having these issues.

 

The first big bug I ran in to was with the Thieve's Guild. Seems there are others who have run into this as well:

 

After stealing the ring, the quest-giver stays in the marketplace in Riften, but his clothes have changed. Everyone in the market is standing around like he is still doing the distraction. I cannot progress at all with this entire chain because the guy I need to meet in the Ragged Flagon won't move from his stall. I have around 8 of the unusual gems I need to unload and I really want to do the quests for the Thieve's Guild after hearing from a few folks that they are quite fun. An entire line of quests (and some pretty unique rewards) are completely unavailable to me because of this.

 

The next bug I ran into is somewhat minor, but it doesn't allow me to get married or open a shop. I am stuck on the Mara quest-line where you have to talk to one or the other person. After telling the couple to elope, both NPC's the quest-log says you can speak to don't offer any additional information and the quest marker is gone. This isn't major, but it still locks me away from a chunk of the game.

 

The third bug is almost as annoying and game breaking as the Thieve's Guild issue: I can't buy the house in Windhelm. I did the Dark Brotherhood quest line before I began the civil war quests and after having the jarl of Windhelm tell me to buy a house, the steward just keeps saying "it's not available". I've stolen the Butcher's journal from the chest in the curiosities place and people talk about the butcher, but every attempt at starting the quest will not work. The mage in the jarl's keep has no dialogue options, the night-murder won't trigger, etc. Since I have a lot of the deadriv artifcats and a lot of cool gear I want to put on display, this house and the armory it has are very appealing, I want to show off my hard work.

 

I have researched all three issues and it appears I am not the only one having them. Apart from the Book of Love quest line bug, these issues seem wide-spread.

 

Most people say you might need to start a new game or use the terminal to force progression, but with over 80 hours into this character, I do not want to have to start over or possibly break my save file.

 

Is my save ruined? Can these issues be fixed? I have heard there is some console magic tyou can do, but I don't want to deactivate achievements or break my game.

I came upon this while looking up the WIndhelm bug you mentioned.

 

For the Thieves Guild did you put the ring in the elf vendor's pocket after you stole it?

If you've done the Dark Brotherhood guest line then you may have a problem with the "Blood on the Ice" quest later on, should it start that is. But to hopefully get things started (unless you're bugged to hell like me), you need to enter Windhelm four times prior to 245 days elapsing it seems.

I don't have the same problems as first poster did, I have a game breaker with the Jarl of Riften .. After i buy the house in riften im suppose to report back to the Jarl so she can give me the title Thane, but when i return to see her the quest marker is above her head yet she dosn't complete the quest.

 

This stuffed my first char which was about 80 or so hours play, i restarted a new char and completed the quest.

 

Seems Auto saves are the real issue never load off them if you can avoid it as they seem to cause quest bugs and glitchs, Fallout had the same issue, that said exploring and picking up quest items before you take the quest will usually break the game aswell which is also something carried over from the Fallouts.

the only quest bug i have is the Blood on the Ice quest i think i completed the darkbrother hood quest but im still getting contracts from night mother though but the Blood on the Ice quest wont trigger does that mean i have to start over to get it to trigger
