Lazare
:( Elder Scrolls 3 New starter Hi, I don't wish to recieve hate mail, but can somebody give me a few pointers or tips on what to do? So far I've got some armour & weapons, killed a couple of maggot like things, a couple of rats, a couple of mini t-rex's & one bandit. (My first guy got gutted by the bandit). I've delivered the paperwork to the chap in Balmora and been told I am not experienced enough & basically go away and sign up somewhere to gain experience then come back later. Is this normal? The game does look like it's brilliant (I have played other RPG's & it has been recommended), but it appears to be very slow paced. I think it is the end of the second day (the days don't seem to last long?) and I've got to find an Inn again. I want to persevere with the game, but I need a little more excitement. Where am I going wrong? Thanks. Lazare.

cmac
Once you get to be a higher-level character, new quests, gear, and other options open up. Keep playing the Main Quest. it will get exciting soon. For now, just complete entry-level Guild quests to get your character going. Join a Great House, the Legion, or a Guild. KublaKarma
Speak with people and ask everyone for rumors... It will be soon addicting!
Pob
All of the above. However noting your comment about finding an inn, you don't need to. People stay up all night in pretty much where you left them, so you can trade at 3 in the morning if you wish. You basically only need to rest to level up or to get HP/Magicka back. Yes it might feel slow, but MW is a huge game. Take some time, explore do a few quests for other guilds. Its half the fun of the game. Should be loads of stuff on here and in UESP to guide you through
Limorkil
Finding an Inn in Balmora is easy. You can also sleep for free in the fighters guild and in the mages guild once you join. If you are a fighter type then the quickest way to get some excitement going is to join the fighters guild, which you can find in the middle of Balmora. Their quests usually involve killing people/creatures and they are a lot more fun than the early quests from many other factions, although they are harder. You can also join the mages guild if you use magic. Their quests are good but the first few are boring, although easy. Talking to NPCs is a decent way to find out what to do. Ask about "Latest Rumors", "Little Advice" and "Little Secret". The information you get is often vague, but it can lead to some fun exploration. Also, if you are a thief type, then have a look round some of the guard towers and richer houses. It's a good way to get cash and unusual items. Plus the risk of getting caught makes it interesting. Good luck.
Malchik
And don't just stick to Balmora. Get a ride to Vivec, Sadrith Mora, Ald Ruhn. Ask around and there is quite a lot of work. Suggestion - get a leaflet from the redguard in the foreign quarter plaza Vivec. Talk to the Apothecary in the lower waistworks. When you've done that quest she'll give you another one. That'll be a lot spicier if you're over-adventurous! And as everyone says, Good luck!
