Fallout 3 GOTY crashes whenever save is created / loaded

Hey, I just re-installed Fallout 3 GOTY, and the game crashes whenever I hit "continue" or "new". I had the game before on my computer, and it ran fine. Then I deleted it because I needed more space (this being about a year ago) and only recently have tried to re-install it. I currently have no mods running, and am using a 64bit machine. I also have tried a re-installation of it after I had the issues, and no luck. I have tried disabling GFWL with the program that is found on the f3nexus. If anyone has any suggestions for a fix that would be sweet. Thanks.

experimentally try a new game

 

if it works then either your current save is blown or you are using a special character in the player's name

 

 

of course if that doesn't work -- is this a simple UAC issue

Hm.. Sorry for the dumb question, what is "UAC"? I tried to google it but nothing useful came up. Thanks for your time.

That's User Account Control. It generally messes up most things in the Program Files, that's why the smarthest thing is to install your games in the C:/Games folder or on a different drive partition.
