I view death as the opposite of life, since you're dead and not moving. And I don't fear death, I faced it and saw it, and caused it so many times I just don't feel any fear of it anymore. Edited by Werne

a basic fear of death is vital. or we would wander in front of trains, or off the edge of a peer right into the water, or something. climb into the bear cage at the zoo, like i saw in the news a while back

i count myself as one of those.

i guess one could always exchange the word "fear" with "sound respect" i guess, but it still stems from the fear of perishing away from this world

Well, it is NOT meant to be a RELIGIOUS debate. Death is NOT automatically about religion as even atheists die. Death can be viewed a a medical condition if you like, a process which starts when the heart stops beating and ends in brain death, followed by the decomposition of the body over time, nothing religious about that.

That's what I meant. I'm not afraid to put a bullet in my revolver, spin the cylinder, point it to my head and squese the trigger, I just don't have the sence of fear when I'm in near-death situations.

Maybe you don´t fear death because you believe that there may be something beyond it, who knows what, maybe science will someday find out the mysteries of death. Ever seen the movie Flatliners?

Furthermore, I believe that death CAN indeed be conquered by science in the future and one way or the other we will have immortality.

There's nothing beyond it, you die, you get buried and you decompose, the end. The only thing that is left behind are the memories, when memories fade away, you disappear completely.
