[LE] Renovate your House with console

Hehehe - yeah. I'm only guessing, since I have no 3D software skills whatsoever, but it doesn't seem like it would horribly difficult to split up some of the houses and import them as new meshes for we homebuilders to go play with.

Right now I really, really wish I'd taken that course in 3DS Max...

That should'nt be to difficult, what kind of split up are you talking about? To simply remove parts of a mesh or just split them into parts? Im using blender a lot these days because im making a new robe/armor, so i could look into it if you want to?

If you want to do it yourself there are tons of good tutorials for 3ds max right here on nexus though :)

Houses are single mesh objects that do not have doors. House interiors are actually interior cells. The biggest problem with building an interior in the outside worldspace is that all of the weather effects will happen inside said interior. That means if its pouring rain, it will also be pouring rain inside of this house even though it's obvious theres an intact roof. You aalso run the risk of bringing that exterior cell to a screeching lag-fest by putting another 500+ objects in the space of a small house on top of all the world objects and AI thats processing.

I suggest waiting for the toolset so you can build proper interior cells.

Good point, Sunnie. Didn't think of the rain... /stoopid

Kind of academic now, Sk8on, but I was just thinking of taking doors, walls, roof and turning them into modular 'panels', so that building houses was as straightforward as the interiors (find object, place object, spend seven hours tweaking object, stand back and admire work, realise you used the wrong object, rinse'n'repeat).

Actually... it would still be useful for building custom houses (i.e. more interesting than the single meshes the game gives us). So then when we have the CK and can create proper interior cells, we can also make the exterior appear as customised - as large or small, with as many windows and so forth - as we like.

Hmm...

I've been reading a lot of those tutorials, but since I'm new to both 3D and modding Bethesda games, I was going to wait until some more official tools came along, at least as far as the 3D thing went. It makes me feel like my first day at Photoshop. Total. damn. noob.

Well I ditched the house thing and am playing around with some of the codes. I remember reading some posts stating that people wanted dragons for their caves and lairs and whatnots. If anyone is still interested the code "0010FD64" spawns a non-aggressive dragon. Upon spawning he says a single line and after that he goes quiet. He walks around every now and then but doesn't seem to fly (so far...I've only waited a little over a day). He makes breathing noises. He can be killed but carries no loot. He doesn't turn aggressive even upon attacking.

Well 3d modeling is something you can do easily now, it's just the process of copy/pasting shaders etc that can be a pain, to be honest it's the armor and body meshes that are the worst pain, but not difficult, just 2 minutes of extra work.

nifskope and blender works great for me, i can also use tessnip to add custom armor with it's own id ingame, but i decided to wait with that until the CK came along, kinda tired of tessnip and modifying records, Drelas Cottage was my last drop of that tea :P

Actually, looking at the house hjerim for example in windhelm, it got multiple meshes, but they are all contained in one .nif. but modifying and making a custom house by using already excisting meshes i think is doable, you don't even have to think about skin partitions! :D

Retextures would also probably work in many cases, to make them look unique.

If you like creative construction, belive me, when you start to learn 3d modeling, you open up a new world of oppertunities, maybe not everyone likes it, but i know i did.

And learning the process which is something im still doing is not that hard either if you are a little determined and focused. Some problems may arise that makes you wanna pull your hair out, but thats what we use the forum for, if we can't solve a problem, we ask others who have more experience.

I will add that i have not started modeling much new things yet, i use meshes that already excist and tweak them to my desires, to create new models i also have to make new textures, and textures is something i don't handle well yet. I might have gone a little off-track and off-topic, but cell creation can be even more fun if you can model your own things during the mod making process i imagine! :)

On the 1st page you say, there is no way you can make more mannequins.

But thats kinda easy.

Jump and in midair,

open your console and type in:

  1. player.placeatme 89a85 1 [This creates a living mannequin (the normal mannequins just have frozen animations)]
  2. tai [you have to click on the mannequin before you type that in, this freezes its animations (mannequins are normal npc with frozen animations)]
  3. openactorcontainer 1 (this opens the mannequins inventory and lets you place armor at it)

I hope I helped someone ;)

(Don't blame me, if this was already known. I simply don'T have the energy to click through 80 pages.)

best wishes

Ceronia

anyone know why this want work for me i tried do this all go well until i leave my house and the mannequins jump though the floor some time not on the first exit and entry but all ways after the send time entering the house i tried disabling and enabling them dose not work

Edit has anyone fount how to add blood to the game yet i have a alter and i want to add some blood on it but cant find it in help or the form id website =s anyone have any ideas im also looking for the gore/bloody bone parts like the skull and ribcage you find in most cave with vampire in?

grayskull8 - I think I remember seeing something in Statics. Have a look here http://fusromod.com/formids.php?idpage=static

Sk8on - I really liked the Drelas mod (actually using it right now). Might kick down that upstairs wall and extend the upper floor all the way across... hmm. Also, I'm gonna learn how to do 3D as soon as the CK comes out and I can establish a proper workflow. I was having nightmares trying to sort out normal maps but I'll get back to it as soon as I've finished spawning dragons about the place. Hehehe...

Back on topic - does anyone know if there's a way of dumping out data for the objects you've added with a console? There's a 'creategamedata' command, but I'm not sure what it does.

Reason I ask is that it would be really, really useful if you could use the console to redesign a place, then dump the data for all the new objects (to a file), and then turn it into an esp. That would save an awful lot of manual work...
