creation kit out yet?

Nope. There is no release date either.

Theres a particularly nasty rumor going around that Bethesda is purposefully holding back the creation kit until after they've released a few DLCs. With Oblivion, the player created mods people downloaded for free ended up being massively better than any DLC Bethesda created and they felt it hurt their DLC sales. If this is at all true then the creation kit won't be out for a while. Its only a rumor though.

If it's true it means that Beth' merchandising direction has totally misunderstood what we, PC gamers all liked about their preview releases, as an exemple i will not play Skyrim much longer ,if there aint no Creation kit because it's not the only good game that's in store, so if they want to keep us focused they should, i should say "THEY MUST" release the creation kit quickly.

I'm close to finish the game and maybe i will start another charac, but it won't get me focused on this game, we need Creation Kit and we start to be sick of waiting .

So to Bethesda:

" Don't turn your back on PC Gamers and don't forget why we love your games"

I agree, after 2 weeks playing Skyrim theres not much else to do, and mods really help on that, I played hundreads of hours of Fallout 3 and NV because of quest mods, and if tha rumor is true and I hope it isn't, Bethesda is completely turning it's back on PC gamers and they have to remember that without us, there wouldn't be Elder Scrolls

@ MonsterMonkey: Not necessarily. Judging from many threads here it is apparent that the level of fanboyism is off scale. Bethesda can do whatever they want, most people won't mind.

As for me, downloadable content simply does not interest me, just give me that Creation Engine already. Tardivex is right in pointing out that without us, Oblivion's continuing popularity for example would not exist. And there wouldn't be Skyrim (basically a massive upgrade to the previous installment, that uses the ideas and work of many talented Oblivion modders).

As much as I like the main quest, it only lasts a few hours; after that your ability to roleplay is severely limited given the few dialog options, the very sparsely populated areas and the rough and inhospitable landscape you would expect south of the Antarctic circle.

Not to mention the extensive amount of bugs in game.

Modding is needed now.

I doubt they'll be stupid enough to gain controversy by releasing the CK only after the DLCs. But then again, I didn't expect Ubisoft to be stupid enough to gain controversy by making their SP games online-only. Ubisoft ended up making Steam and other DRM measures look good, as you can still play offline.

Ubisoft already lost me for good. Bioware is also walking a very tight rope with their allegiance to EA, and DA2 was very meh, still, I wonder if ME3 will win them back into my good books. What I also suspect is that perhaps Microsoft are paying Bethesda to only release the CK after they made it possible for mods to be playable on consoles, notably the 360. But this is just my opinion, nothing is confirmed, and furthermore all of these are just rumors.

What is confirmed however are a few things:

- Todd Howard also wanted the CK to come out with the game, didn't go as planned

- It seems Bethesda is focusing on finishing up the CK rather then patching the game itself

So that is in favor of Bethesda, it's obvious that they want it out ASAP just like the rest of us. I just hope they don't let me down however.

Didn't that same rumour do the rounds when FO3s GECK was delayed?

Can't wait either, although will there really be any substantial mods out so soon? I mean, some mods from Oblivion like one where they made a whole new harbour somewhere with ships only appeared after 3 years or so (and they still made my game CTD so much) .....
