Dwemer.

All we know is they used to be here but not any more.

What do you think happened to them?

I think scene they where so f***ing smart and they found out how to read the elder scrolls.

That they used them to go somewhere else in time do do some s*** or something.

Like to stop some world ending s***.

Its just something that has been bugging me for a LONG time.

If you know what happened to them and I just missed something please tell me.

Apparently what you missed was the entirety of Morrowind, in which the Dwemer are the single most important plot point in the entire game due to their discovery of and tampering with Lorkhans Heart, destroying them entirely at the same time as setting up all the events of the whole adventure and a couple millenia of lore.

And anyone can read the Elder Scrolls. It's not going instantly insane or blind that's the problem, a problem solved by decades of preparation and gradually going blind due to exposure to them. Or, seemingly, being Dragonborn, because I sure as hell didn't suffer any loss of sight or mental capacity after flinging myself through time with one.

Yeah, Morrowind tells us what happened to them, though depending on who you complete the quest with you're given different answers. Yagrim, the last Dwarf, says one of two things could have happened due to their use of the Heart of Lorkhan.

A; they were destroyed at a fundimental level, soul and all

B; they were transported far beyond the known multi-verse, beyond the planes of Oblivion into the far reaches which no one has ever explored.

While the common Ash Piles in Morrowind seem to indicate option A, there are statements made in The Infernal City (the cannon of which iis somewhat suspect) that indicate option B is possible.

It had nothing to do with the Elder Scroll.

Nobody really knows what happened. All we know is that they activated the golem, and they were gone. There is no proof if they got destroyed, transfered to another, newly made, plane or simply simply transfered to another universe. Heck, there is no proof the actiavation was the reason they dissapeared. Could be the pissed of Dadrea Princes decided to give them a bunch. Coincidence could happen!

All we know is: The dwemer were a race that got a lot of hate on them. Tricking dadreic princes is not a good thing! They believed they were more God, than men. Hence the try to make a Brass God and make every dwemer become a God.

Which means: We will probably never see Dwemers. Even if I love 'em, they are gone. Not stopping me from loving them though!

By that logic, if you had a book on theoretical physics, written in Latin, and you took it to, say, Hawkings {Assuming he could read latin} you could argue that everything in that book means absolutly nothing because you're relying on someone else to translate it?

During the quest in Morrowind, you have to collect some specific texts which contain everything the Dwemer knew about the nature of the Divine, magicka harmonics, and the Heart of Lorkhan. Then, if your smart, you give them to the last living Dwemer, who served under Kegranac and knows what he's talking about, and he tells you what happened. It is true that Bethesda can decide to retcon the information later, but as it stands we know full well what happened. The tapping into the Heart of Lorkhan was interupted, and the magical backlash affected everyone with Dwemer Blood who was on Mundis at the time of the event.

As for the Dwemer beleiving themselves more god than man... First, they weren't Men, they were Mer. Second, it was more a question of the importance of THEIR gods compared to the Aedra and the Daedra. The Dwemer had their own pantheon, though no one ever communed with them, so the creation of the Numbidium (i probably have that name wrong) was and attempt to give their gods form and influance.

Kagrenac was the only one who really beleived himself a god, though he kep that to himself,

The thing is, we got no proof. We give the items to a dwemer who were in another plane when it happpens. He knows more of the dwemer as a whole, but just as little of what could've happened.

First, they weren't Men, they were Mer

I am sorry, was a poor choice of word. It sounds better than "Believing themselves more god than mer". You got my point though.

We talk about a race who were tricking and jerking around dadreic princes. You know, the kind of things that almost destroyed Tamriel in Oblivion? So yes, they really did set themself over the Aedra and Daedra.

The point is that they almost managed to create a god. Of course it went bad, but the idea itself is over what any living being should be doing.

In the end, we guess. We guess they did X or Y, we guess A and we guess B. In the end, we know only this: Unless Bethesda takes in some insane story, they are not coming back.

I think they discovered how irritating it would be to live in a world without grammar, spelling and emphases not involving poo or sex. This discovery drove them to insanity, and they died trying to forge the greatest walking semi-colon in history, called Lorkhan.

This exactly ^.

We can never realy be sure what exactly happened to them all we know is why whatever happened to them happened.

That is to say they were f#cking with forces & beings that nobody should f#ck with & they suffered the consequences.
