Moksha8088
Can't sign into Steam. Seems my account has been hijacked. When I search for a password reset I have received several replies from Steam in Russian rather than English. The address they insist on mailing things to within the secure address communications is not my email address. I guess they can only communicate to a secure account which is now listed as that bogus email address. 1. Is there any way to contact a support outside of that secure account address which is now listed as another email address unknown to me? 2. Would Steam even address a concern over a stolen account? 3. What is causing me to get Steam messages in Russian? Is that the country of origin for the hijackers? 4. Any suggestions? I hope this is topical enough to be answered in that all my games have Nexus mods. Thanks for any assistance. DoctorKaizeld
1) contact Steam support. Try to find the non-automated support. 2) yes. They are able to see when the email was changed. 3) probably. Though you could be trying to sign into the wrong account... Which seems unlikely. 4) wrong forum this belongs in the Off Topic thread. Moksha8088
Seems my email address had been changed to 185.135.149.177, RU. Does RU stand for Russia or Rumania? I am going through game withdrawals and may need an IV of Diet Coke soon. Anyway, the guy is playing Counterstrike Global Offensive. Hope he doesn't do anything to get me banned. That shows poor taste on his choice since the only worthwhile games are open-ended non-linear games like Skyrim, etc... 1) contact Steam support. Try to find the non-automated support. Where might that be located?
DoctorKaizeld
support.steampowered.com/kb_cat.php?s=8c9c57647718cb137cc17ad8a212a73f&id=94 The idea for hijacking accounts in the case of multiplayer games often are done by hackers trying to cheat but dont want to lose their account typically. Moksha8088
Interesting that I can see the hacker on Youtube, but I do not speak the Russian or Serbian language to know what game he is reviewing. My son tells me he was probably looking for CounterStrike skins or something like that. I contacted Steam, but there is no telling how long it will be before the ticket is handled by an actual person. Wonder what country(s) the support center is located in? DoctorKaizeld
Probably. I believe it is located out of the US
Vagrant0
If you have a credit card linked to the account, you should inform them about the stolen account and get your accounts changed or temporarily blocked. A person playing CS:GO, rolling skins on a stolen card can max out the credit limit within minutes.
