Monster texture overhaul, question on extracted bsa file replacement

I've been at this for about 16 hours now and I've hit snag.

Here's the deal:

Been modding these games for years, but with F04, basic modding and enbs weren't going to pull off the world I've got in mind. I figured if I had a big enough pallet to work with, no reason it couldn't be done. I downloaded as many world object and landscape textures mod archives as I could, made a Workspace folder on my 4TB, unzipped all the downloaded archives into individual folders and compiled myself the mother of all texture pallets.

If I can't do it with this, I can't do it.

Figure I'd use the Texture Optimization Project as a base canvas, overwriting as I cherry picked and ultimately, replace the vanilla textures via unpacked, overwritten and repacked vanilla ba2's.

Keyword: overwritten

Since I'm building Frankenstein's monster out of a pool of over a hundred different mod textures, meshes and materials, I figure I'm going to have to rename all of my custom files to match the vanilla file names, yeah? Or am I looking at this all wrong?

Hey, thanks for the response and yeah, last night I just figured there was no possible way around it. Got some rest, got up and started.

It hasn't been most stimulating of my modding experiences, but it's going. Feels sort of like doing manual mod conflict resolution in that it's probably a pretty popular punishment in modder hell.

Edit: I did learn something somewhat surprising though. After doing side by side comparisons of literally every decent Rock retexture across several games, I've come to realize that it's our Achilles's heel as a modding community.

No one has absolutely nailed the rock retexture yet.

There are some that are clearly better than others, but that's the one thing I feel like I'm taking a bath on no matter which one I choose.
